“Sorry, TikTok isn’t available right now.” This message blew the whole US off its feet on January 19th. Yes, we are talking about your favorite, the TikTok app. During COVID-19, this Chinese app took off! Mainly because people could get entertained, entertain others, and even earn money from it. From then on, the app never looked back—until the US government pressured TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, to sell its US stake.

Trump’s government had warned the company that if it didn’t comply, the app would be banned in the country. And that’s exactly what happened—for a few hours, at least! But the incident shook everyone, especially influencers and content creators. People started getting messages on their screens saying, “A law banning TikTok has been enacted in the U.S. Unfortunately, that means you can’t use TikTok for now.”

But there is a twist! The app was back up and running within hours! And that’s when the jokes and memes started pouring in. Even golfing diva Paige Spiranac got on the trend and took it to her X profile. She wrote, “The TikTok drama the past 24 hours reminds me of the scene in Almost Famous where they thought their plane was going to crash so they told each other their deep dark secrets then seconds later the turbulence was over lol.”

For those who haven’t seen the movie, Almost Famous is a classic coming-of-age comedy-drama about a teenage music journalist who goes on tour with a rock band. But what Spiranac was referring to is a moment when the characters face their mortality and share their deepest secrets.

While the internet breathed a collective sigh of relief, Spiranac’s playful response masked a reality: the blackout nearly cost her a significant payday. For Spiranac, TikTok is more than just a platform for entertainment – it’s a moneymaker. Her creative content and sponsored posts rake in nearly $100,000 annually, making her a crossover star in both golf and social media. But Spiranac didn’t let the scare dampen her. Spiranac bounced back with a hilarious video, where she’s seen walking towards the camera with a tennis racket and ball in hand. The caption read, “Coming back to TikTok less than 12 hours later lol.”

The former golfer has always been a funny one. Remember the time she took a dig at her content? She once posted a self-deprecating video, in all humor, with the caption,  “I’m glad you’re not one of those girls who oversexualize themselves online.” Or the time, she gave herself a new name.. Stripper Sandy Mounds?

This latest one was a lighthearted moment that had her fans laughing out loud.

Paige Spiranac’s new video hit pressed fan’s sarcastic mood button

A fan posted a comic picture of Donald Trump which showed him speaking – “Tik Tok time!” referring to Trump’s domination over the app and how he played around for a few hours. Speaking of that, the US government has now given the company an ultimatum to do the requirement within 90 days or TikTok will be banned for US citizens from then on. Another viewer had a similar reaction, writing, “Tik Tok indeed,” referring to the limited time left for TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, to sell its US stake.

Meanwhile, Paige Spiranac was praised for her walking skills, with one fan saying, “Walking like the Queen, she is.” And we don’t doubt that! The former golfer has killed her social media game over the years. Be it impressing her fans with her bold replies to misogynistic comments or with her timely golfing tips, Spiranac always brings her A-game.

“This is clickbait,” wrote another X user, humorously praising her beauty and walk in a white tennis dress. But that’s not all! A social media user also joked, “Hahaha, you couldn’t wait for your return, good luck (rose emojis),” referring to how influencers and professionals were reacting to this incident.

Charley Hull too posted on her Instagram story, adding a nostalgic wish to return to Nokia phones and simpler times. She wrote, “To be honest, I think we should all be going back to the old school – ban all social media, and go back to Nokia phones and live life at the moment.” She added, “Guarantee the world would be a happier healthier place.”

While Hull’s perspective leaned into nostalgia, Spiranac embraced the drama with her trademark humor. Which perspective did you enjoy the most? Let us know in the debate section below!
