We live in a digital era, and everything is adjusting accordingly. So is the PGA Tour. To better understand the world of social media, the American Tour has decided to take a step forward and set up a council of the top golf content creators. The formation of the Creator Council was announced on December 6, 2024. It features ten popular content creators who will be in constant touch with the tour’s media, marketing, and communications team to develop content development strategies and have better fan engagement.

Well, this was indeed a much-needed step, given that after the rift and the merger delays, the PGA Tour has been rapidly losing fans’ interest. The PGA Tour took to its official Instagram account to report the news. They wrote, “The TOUR is teaming up with the top golf content creators 👀 The Creator Council will discuss fan engagement strategies, collaborative content opportunities, the evolution of the Creator Classic, and much more.”

Undisputed golf queen Paige Spiranac was part of the team, and she had to be! After all, she is the one who started the trend of golf content creation. She was beyond excited. On the post, she commented, “Can’t wait! Excited!” Paige Spiranac went viral in 2015 after posting a video of her golf swing on Instagram, which caught the attention of Golf Digest and other media outlets.

The video showcased her powerful and smooth swing. There has been no looking back ever since. She has 1 million followers on X and 4 million followers on Instagram. She was so excited about this new endeavor. She took to X to express her happiness.

“In 2015 I went viral and that catapulted my social media journey. At that time there was no such thing as golf content creators on social media. Over these past 9 years, it’s been amazing to share my love for this incredible game with so many people. I’m proud of the path I paved for myself in golf and how far this industry has grown with so many talented creators who share a common goal. To be on the Creator Council is an honor and I’m very excited to continue to do my part to grow the game!”

From being a failed pro who quit because she could not take the mental stress of professional golf, to helping pros and the sport she loves so much gain traction, Spiranac sure has come a long way. The other influencers on the council included Tisha Alyn, Bryan Bros Golf, Erik Anders Lang, Roger Steele, Bob Does Sport, Fore Play, and No Laying Up.

The Foreplay Podcast began as a humble golf-focused podcast, launched by Barstool Sports in 2017. Hosted by a group of passionate golf enthusiasts, including Riggs, Frankie, and Trent, the podcast quickly gained popularity for its humorous and relatable take on the sport, blending golf analysis with personal stories and behind-the-scenes insight into the golf world. Being a part of the council made them excited as they commented, “👀👀👀.” Well, most of them seemed as excited about the announcement as Paige Spiranac; one in particular had a reasonable demand.

The Bryan Bros ask for a more personal connection

The Bryan Bros Golf, consisting of George and Wesley Bryan, prefers in-person interactions over virtual collaborations, as highlighted in a 2018 interview with Golf Digest. While they create digital content, they emphasize the value of real connections made through face-to-face engagements, whether with fans, sponsors, or collaborators. They have also interviewed several players, like Gary Player, for instance, and unlike the other podcasts, their videos have always been a physical meet-up.

Taking to this, they requested the PGA Tour and commented, “Would now be a good time to ask for all of our meetings to take place on the golf course? Phone calls, emails, and Zooms aren’t my thing.” Bryan Bros’ first comment, “Let’s go!!” on the post, shows that they are just as excited.
