Brian Harman has the habit of making it to the headlines quite a lot! But, more often than not, it’s for all the wrong reasons. Last weekend, the reigning British Open Winner at the PGA Championship expressed his frustration on the greens by hurling his golf club at the ground, hitting himself in the face simultaneously. This happened because of a disappointing tee shot on the par-3 at Valhalla during the second round.

This weekend at the Charles Schwab Challenge was no different for him. After missing a par shot, Harman did what he is known for the best – demonstrating his frustration with his golf club. This once again, garnered him all the possible negative attention from the community.

Brian Harman carded two bogeys at the 4-par hole 3, and 4-par hole 14. This dropped him to the T7 position as the second round at the Colonial concluded. After his -4 finish in round one on Thursday, missing out on the 5-footers by him was an unexpected site for the golf fans, and well, Harman himself was not quite happy about it!

And we all know what happens when he is disappointed. As he went on to card his second bogey of the round, Harman threw his club in the direction of his caddie, Scott Tway, carrying his bag. He then picked it up and started an exceptionally disheartened walk.

NUCLRGOLF shared this incident shared it on their official X (formerly Twitter) account, and mockingly wrote, “Brian Harman is PISSED”, adding a skeleton emoji to give out the dramatic effect that he brings on the course. He is now tied with a -1, with four other players, with a whopping 9 strokes away from the current solo leader Davis Riley.

Brian Harman is not the only one with temper issues on the course though. Even fan favorites like Rory McIlroy and Jordan Spieth have lost their calm during stressful moments on the golf course. Not to forget, the ever-calm Scottie Scheffler’s form took a hit last week at the PGA Championship after he scuffled with the Louisville Police. The World No.1 eventually finished T8 at Valhalla.

After the viral moment emerged, the golf community was quick to throw witty jabs at the golfer.

The Golf Community fed up with Brian Harman’s antics

The club slamming is not the only tantrum that Brian Harman brings to the course. Be it his slow play accusations at each hole or the monosyllabic reply to his bogeys at the presser held after the Round 1 of the RBC Heritage, he has always managed to piss off his followers.

The fact that one of the golf spectators, sarcastically inquired, “Isn’t he the guy who has temper tantrums” for Brian Harman, shows how deeply attached to tantrums he is.

With so much drama in every course that he is present in, one of the fans is utterly frustrated. Although Brian Harman does sometimes bring good gameplay to the course, his actions become intolerable for them to witness. Taking to this, one of the fans commented, “Not my Champion Golfer of the Year”.

While some of them are still considering having him in the field, a considerable amount of golf followers are so done with his tantrums that they no longer wish to see him on the field of any tournament. His continuous outbursts on the PGA Tour make it annoying for the fans to watch, and then he is called names. A lot of them referred to him as a crybaby and wanted him completely out of the tour. They left comments like, “Get this crybaby off the course” and “Has he always been a crybaby like this?”

Brian Harman also has a history of terrible golf club slams. During the hurling of his club on the ground at Valhalla, his club could barely cover a distance, as he failed to throw it far enough away from his body. As a result of which the iron hit the turf and bounced back up at him. The butt of the club hit him in the face.

Well, the throw at the Charles Schwab Challenge was no different, as it landed pretty close to his feet, not showing enough aggression. And that’s not how a usual club slam looks for other players. Taking to this, one of them sarcastically commented, “Usually they show club throws in slow motion but looks like real speed was fine here”.

Although Harman is right-handed, he makes his golf swings with his left hand. This is the only sport he plays like this. Harman’s left-hand skills were covered when he became the third left-handed player after Bob Charles (1963), and Phil Mickelson (2013) to win the Claret Jug in the 2023 Open Championship at Royal Liverpool.

However, the golf slam made by him at the Colonial was with his right hand, and maybe that is why the speed did not work out. Nonetheless, pointing out the difference, one of the fans wrote, “He’s right-handed during temper tantrums?”

Well, for all the tantrums that he has been throwing around at every match, Brian Harman’s 2024 PGA Tour season has not been great. He has failed to grab any victory so far this season, and apart from making it to the Top 5 only twice (The Sentry, and THE PLAYERS), he has also missed the cuts at the Valspar Championship and the Masters. The very few fans, who are still waiting for the 3X PGA Tour winner to show the golf world his real gameplay, are still expectant. But the question is, will he be able to stand up to their expectations, or just become a golfer who is only capable of creating a nuisance? Stay tuned to find out!
