Tiger Woods is missing the Open Championship at Hoylake this season. His fans are devastated and the golfing community is certainly missing a remarkable performance. However, his proxy is keeping things interesting at the 151st Open Championship this week.

Tom Kim has been very vocal about his idolization of the 5 times Masters champion, and even shared a hilarious tale about him from his childhood. Kim’s affinity to make light of bad situations is what makes him such a delight to watch on the golf course. Now, he has gotten into a situation that is receiving mixed reactions from Kim himself.

Why is Tom Kim limping?

Ever since Tiger Woods met with a car accident, he has been experiencing problems with his stride, stance, and pace of play on the golf links. It is why he has been absent from all the Major tournaments this year. Given his appreciation to the point of hero-worship for the 3-time Open Championship winner, PGA Tour Pro Tom Kim, couldn’t help following in his footsteps to injure his foot.

When asked what happened during the Mixed Zone interview on Friday the 21st, the Pro golfer shared, “After the round yesterday I got home and I looked — where I’m staying, there is like this patio and it drops down to the grass. There is like half a yard of mud and my foot got caught and slipped and popped.”

“It’s a grade one tear,” the professional golfer professed, adding that he is barely able to walk. The mishap came at a very unfortunate time for the golfer, what with trying to make the cut at the 151st Open Championship. He did not wish to forfeit so he played on a bad foot, finishing his round with 3-under par.

His performance was good, and he credited his team for their tough love during a dire situation. “I was told to suck it up. I certainly did that and played well today,” he admitted.

The Pro golfer adores Tiger Woods and now he is getting to experience first-hand what the epic golfer had to endure when he planned his early return before complete recovery. Thoughts and prayers go out to Tom Kim, hoping he will recover soon and won’t have to endure the excruciating pain.

Tom Kim’s hilarious nature

Ever since his mud bath video went viral, Kim has been constantly in the public eye for delivering such hilarity on the links. Unbeknownst to him, he was filmed trying to take a mud bath after struggling in the swamp, trying to find his ball. He took it in stride and laughed heartily upon discovering that his ‘moment’ had gone viral.

This time around, even though this is “something very unfortunate” and is causing him great difficulty in walking around, Tom Kim is still in good spirits. He kept saying “I got away with it.” Clearly, he expected the injury to be much worse and is grateful that he can play his rounds before visiting a doctor. “It was very close to call it off and not playing today, get home and try to see a doctor because it’s pretty bruised,” he shared.
