Tyrrell Hatton is one of the most enchanting players in the sport, who is known for his witty sense of humor and his on-the-course tantrums as well. There have been times when the golfer has stunned the fans with his game but recently not so much! His recent performance left everyone wondering if there was something that was causing any trouble to the English golfer. 

And recently, in a press conference in Hoylake, the golfer revealed something and answered the questions everyone has been having lately. The 3X DP World Tour winner opened up about the recent hardships he has been going through on the greens.

The 31-year-old golfer has made the cut in the 151st Open. As the third day of the championship was concluded, the golfer ended in the T24 position with a score of 1 under overall. Although after his Friday game, it appeared difficult for the golfer to make the cut. To everyone’s joy, he eventually did.

On Saturday, after the golfer played his round, he sat down with the media for a press conference. An interviewer asked him about his struggle on the course and what might be causing it, to which the golfer gave quite an honest reply. He shared that he “didn’t feel comfortable with the ball last week,” and his discomfort with the ball has extended to this week as well. He remarked “I’m struggling”, as he mentioned his Open performance.

The golfer lost his temper last week at Scottish Open after he had to take 5 extra strokes to make the ball reach the hole at the 18th. The golfer got quite a lot of attention for his obscene finger-flipping on the 18th. Although as obscene as his action may be, the 1X PGA Tour is well aware of the importance of good shots at highly coveted events such as the Open Championship.

Hatton shows his awareness of good and bad shots at the Open Championship 

Amid sharing the struggles he has been facing recently on the course, Hatton also talked about how a single bad hole can highly impact the game at such significant events. He shared that he has been putting himself in “decent positions” this week because he understands how the game can turn after a golfer has had one bad hole. “This week it’s a lot further back after one bad hole,” he said.
