Rickie Fowler is one of the most successful golfers out there. One of the reasons that has contributed to the creation of his wealth is wise monetary investment. However, his recent exit from the purchase of a football club in England brought him some flak from his UK fans.
And as Fowler chases the first prize at the Open Championship, he opened up on why he pulled out of the deal while fellow golfers and close friends Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth chose to continue with their share.

At the race of Open Championship, Fowler is trying his best to reach the top spot. But besides this Fowler had to face another dilemma at the event as well when a fan called him a coward for pulling out of his Leeds United deal. And yesterday the matter was also brought up by the media people present at Hoylake. Asking about his plans of making any investment in the future, the media questioned, “Would you consider investing in another team maybe if the opportunity arose?”
Fowler replied, “It doesn’t change my interest at all. Yeah, there may be some other opportunities out there, and I would say football, as we call soccer, isn’t something that — obviously it isn’t as big in the States, but a lot of us that don’t follow it as deeply as everyone over here, we appreciate sport at the highest level.” Rickie feels that there are better options for investment outside of football which doesn’t enjoy that much popularity in America. He continued, “When opportunities like that come up, I would love to be a part of something. We’ll see what the future holds.”

Why did Fowler leave the Leeds United deal?
A few days ago Rickie along with some fellow golfers Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth was rumored to be investing in Yorkshire’s Leeds United Football Club, a professional football club, and become the financial supporters in the 49ers group. But he pulled out after Leeds United was relegated from the Premier League. Rickie further clarified the reason for this was the suggestion of his financial team. He said, “My financial team just didn’t necessarily advise for it, so we decided to not go forward with it.” However, Fowler continues to maintain his interest in investing in a Premier League club or some other sports as well.
At the British Open right now Fowler is sitting on T24 and come Sunday he will hope to finish better, if not win the title which is a long shot for him now.
