It is a season of records for Golfers on the PGA Tour. With the Open Championship underway, the last major championship for 2023, it is an opportunity for big names in the golfing community to get even bigger recognition. While Brian Harman took on a challenge and set a historic record while matching that of Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy at Royal Liverpool, another golfer has set a different kind of record for this season. Let’s find out more.
Who has the maximum consecutive cuts?
Tiger Woods set a record for the most number of cuts made in consecutive events. His streak started in 1998 and he made consecutive cuts on the PGA Tour for 7 years with a record of 142 events. Although his three-digit record may be hard to break, Xander Schauffele has embarked on a journey of his own and is making significant progress.

The 2022 Genesis Scottish Open winner began his streak of making the cut come hail or high water back at the 2022 Masters Tournament. The Pro golfer has since played in 30 events where he made the cut. This season alone he played 19 events on the PGA Tour where he successfully made it to the weekend action each time.

With the final major tournament underway, Xander Schauffele scored a decent (70 1-under par) in round 1, followed by 74 (3-over par) on day 2. Regardless, he made the cut with a total score of 144. The Olympic Gold Medalist finished in T11 after round 2 and is ready to take on the challenge.
While a new season is on the horizon and brand new challenges, Schauffele has the chance to come as close as possible to breaking Tiger Woods’ superhuman record of 142 cuts made. Even if he doesn’t succeed in scoring a three-digit, his two-digit accomplishments are a testament in itself to the increasing difficulty and competition on the links.

Which other golfers have the most consecutive cuts made?
Not many golfers have the good fortune of making consecutive cuts, what with injuries, unexpected bogeys, and natural hindrances on the golf course. However, fashion monger Viktor Hovland is on a high streak at the moment with 24 cuts made in his last 24 appearances. The Norweigan golfer is 6 cuts behind Xander Schauffele standing in second position.
The current world number 1, Scottie Scheffler isn’t far behind. So far the winner of the Players Championship has a high streak going with 22 cuts made in the last 22 games he played. At the 151st Open Championship, with a 3-over par after rounds 1 and 2, Scheffler was at a disadvantage. However, he managed to make the cut at T65.
