Brian Harman is a name that the golfing community will remember, especially after the 2023 Open Championship at Royal Liverpool. His technique at Hoylake has been nearly flawless and that resulted in him raising the Claret Jug with satisfaction.
He was leading the Championship since round 2, and there has been an outpour of scrutiny about the golfer with no Major wins so far, winning one of the oldest tournaments in the golfing community. Add a viral feed on Live TV to that record and his legacy will live for years to come.

When learning how to play golf, one of the primary pointers is to loosen the hip and take the swing. However, the 151st Open Championship’s leading man takes the ‘waggle’ to a whole new level.
Fans have often observed and shared the 2023 Open Championship winner’s fondness for wiggling his hips multiple times before taking a shot. He prepares himself, practices the swing internally, estimates the result, and that amounts to a lot of wiggles. So much so that NBC Live put a wiggle counter to record the number of times he shifts his weight and imagines the shot. The hilarious video surfaced on GolfBalled’s Instagram.

The counter ran up to 13. He waggled 13 times!
An equally humorous subtext accompanied the counter pointing out how closely the golfing community has been watching Harman waggle before his shots. The PGA Tour pro may have claimed victory at one of the most prestigious tournaments in the sport but this viral video is only increasing the scrutiny on his otherwise spectacular finish.
The American golfer won the last tournament of the 2022-23 season with a 13-under par with six-stroke lead over Tom Kim, who also faced a viral mud bath situation not long ago. Perhaps the waggle served an incredible purpose for Brian Harman to keep his focus.

Is there a reason for the waggle?
Earlier, the maiden Major winner at the Open Championship opened up about how he played better in his amateur days. He talked extensively about the freedom afforded by wider fairways and less pressure. He said he has been trying to replicate his former methods in his current gameplay.
Harman has not exclusively spoken about the reason for the waggle. However, his calculations before taking the shots amounted to a remarkable finishing score that remained out of reach for his competitors. So, whatever his reason might be, the waggle is his friend and definitely a source of entertainment for his admirers.
