American team captain Zach Johnson, whose squad has one LIV golfer in Brooks Koepka, opened up in the interview about the difficulties he faced in navigating up to this point. He pointed out that during his captaincy, many unexpected challenges arose.
Off the top of his head, he mentioned a couple of things that he initially had difficulty with when he took over the captaincy of the team. He stated that he was put in a tight spot when it came to formulating the team and maintaining consistency within the system.
This was especially challenging since he was not initially part of the Ryder Cup committee but now that he is, he finds it difficult to make choices about whom to pick and whom not to pick. He said: “There’s only so much I can do given what this is all about, and that’s fine.”
The bottom line is that Johnson knows his role. He aims to take as much burden from his players as possible so they can give their hundred percent on the golf course without any lingering stress.

According to Johnson, it’s apparent how players strategically choose tournaments that offer the most points to improve their standing on the Ryder Cup points leaderboard.
