Will Max Homa ever silence critics by clinching a major, or is he just a Twitter star?

When you cannot find Max Homa on the greens, he is probably on Twitter and roasting the heck out of his fans. The past few days have been the same. People post their unique swings and the 6-time PGA Tour winner trolls them for it. Amidst this, he showed he was a staunch Dodgers supporter and celebrated hysterically after the World Series victory.

He also revealed the tale of his lost AirPods. Homa explained that a few weeks ago, he lost his airports and didn’t find time to buy them again. And now the devastating pain stung more as he had to “workout and practice with no music or podcast” to distract him. He sarcastically shared that doing that had many benefits but admitted, “I hate it.”

Replying to this short and fun thread of Max Homa, one user took a jab at his performances in the major or the PGA Tour for that part and said, “Shut up and win a major.” If you thought Homa would not roast the user in return, you would be wrong to assume that. His three-word reply was enough to shush the user as he said, “I’m trying, dog,” emphasis on the ‘dog’ and not ‘dawg’ clearly portrays what Homa wanted to say.

Another fan joked whether Homa was trying to win a major or shut up. Well, the banter continued as the 6-time PGA Tour winner expressed he wanted to achieve both. But let alone majors, the 35-year-old has not won on the PGA Tour since January 2023 at the Farmers Insurance Open. It will be two winless years for Homa. And as for majors, take a look at yourself.

How well does Max Homa perform in the majors in 2024?

In the most recent one, The Open Championship at Royal Troon, most of the field was struggling and indeed Max Homa was too. But his struggle did not push him to miss the 36-hole cut and yet he didn’t overpower it to finish in the top 10. The 6-time PGA Tour winner was T43 with an 8 over 292 scoreline. But the major before the Open, the US Open at Valhalla, Max Homa’s shortcomings won over him.

He could not salvage his round this time because we all know Pinehurst No. 2 was brutal! For that reason alone, the American golfer was out after he made the cut line on Friday. At the PGA Championship in Valhalla though, he was better than the last two majors. He finished T35, the second-best finish by Homa at the PGA Championship.

While Scottie Scheffler won his second green jacket, seven strokes behind at T3, Homa clinched his best finish at Augusta National for the major. It was the closest he had ever been to winning a major but lost the track in the other three as the season progressed. But the Burbank native was trying and hopefully, in the 2025 season, he may become a major winner and join his best friend, Justin Thomas, who, he recently defeated in a fun challenge.
