Robert MacIntyre’s first PGA Tour win is a massive one. His win at the Canadian Open helped him earn $1.69 million. The 27-year-old golfer had a final score of 16 under par and a one-stroke lead against Ben Griffin. Along with a big party that the golfer wishes to do back home with his girlfriend and family, he also has other plans as to how he wishes to spend his earnings from his first Tour win.

Right after his win, the young golfer called his mother Carol and sister Nicola. In the video shared by the official X handle of the PGA Tour, MacIntyre was seen teasing his mother for being speechless for the very first time. Carol, on the other hand, replied to his win by saying, “Winner, winner, chicken dinner!” MacIntyre then shared a possible expenditure he wished to have with the purse share he received following his win. He said, “Guess what, mum?” then revealed his plans to pay off the mortgage. Bob MacIntyre insinuated so by stating, “That might be the mortgage paid off!”

The golfer was also a part of the winning team in the 2023 Ryder Cup and displayed affection for his family there as well. He earned full-time PGA Tour status and hence moved to Orlando, away from his home in Oban, Scotland. He had a small change in his team for the final round. The golfer called his father, Dougie, at 8 p.m. on a Saturday before the commencement of the final round and asked him to caddie for him. “I’m sitting on the couch at home, 8 o’clock Saturday night, and I’m like, ‘Can I leave my job here?’ Eight o’clock the next morning, and I’m on a flight here. Wow.” Dougie said, who is a grass cutter by profession.

The golfer felt lonely staying in his rental home without his family. Although his girlfriend lives with him and he has a few friends from DPWT, it was his family that he missed the most. At Valhalla, when he was competing, he flew his mother to the States to spend some time with him.

Robert MacIntyre dedicated his first win to his dad too, as he said after winning, “I wanted to win this for my dad.” The golfer’s dad won’t continue caddying for him for the coming events where the fans will see MacIntyre next, namely the Memorial Tournament, US Open, and Travelers. Dougie will be flying back home on Monday.

The heart-swooning conversation between Bob MacIntyre and his family truly melted the fan’s heart. At every instance, he suggested his win was not his alone, and Dougie truly had a big share in it as well. Let us look at how the fans took his moments with his family after the event.
