Justin Thomas wishes for Rickie Fowler to win at the Players Championship
While every golfer on the field is hoping to claim the win on Sunday, Thomas wished to give the winning trophy to his friend Rickie. “It would be great”, said JT, when asked how a PGA Tour win would bring back Fowler into the winner’s circle. The 34-year-old hasn’t won any tournament since the 2019 Waste Management Phoenix Open.
However, his recent form of three top-10 finishes in 8 starts in the 2022-23 season has uplifted the hopes and spirits of his fans, including Justin Thomas. “He’s playing some really good golf, really solid consistent golf”, said JT. The two-time PGA Championship winner also indicated to have been impressed with Rickie Fowler during the practice sessions.
Justin added, “He’s got a lot more swagger, a lot more confidence”. Thomas reveals why Fowler is popular in the golfing world
While the Californian golfer earned $1,072,929 through on-field earnings last year, he earned double that after finishing in the 16th rank in 2022’s PIP rankings. Following his admiration among the fans, Justin Thomas revealed what makes Fowler so special. “He’s more relatable”, the 29-year-old.
JT further added, “He gives more time, whether it’s signing or having fan experiences. He’s always been very active on social media, definitely more so pre-family, I would say”. Justin does have a valid point. Though most golfers do spend time with their fans, it is the extra effort that matters for most. And Rickie Fowler doesn’t hesitate in doing so.
