Tiger Woods‘ last outing on the greens had come way back in April during the 2023 Masters. Back then, the golfer had to withdraw halfway into the competition due to his injury-related troubles. Just days later, he ended up undergoing ankle surgery, a procedure that ruled him out of action for most of 2023.

Much has gone down in the golf world since Woods’ Augusta National appearance. Two more majors have happened over the past months, both of which greatly thrilled fans. In a week, the fourth and final major of the year, the 151st Open Championship, will also be kicking off at the Royal Liverpool Club in Hoylake. However, the 15-time major winner’s absence is still very much palpable, with fans and even fellow players often reminiscing about his past heroics. On Monday, the love and adulation that the golf community has for Woods came to light once again, all thanks to the social media activity of one of his fellow PGA Tour compatriots. Let’s dive in to find out more!

During last month’s US Open, Tiger Woods was one of the biggest names who was missing from the field. But that didn’t stop the competing players from recounting their favorite stories surrounding the golfer. “A lot of us here today in the field owe a lot to Tiger, he’s why we got involved in the game,”  Collin Morikawa had said ahead of his appearance at the Los Angeles Country Club.

Almost a month after the 2-time major winner’s comments, PGA Tour’s Tony Finau is the latest player to honor Woods, and he did it in his own unique style! Taking to Instagram, Finau shared a selfie of himself posing with a fanart of him and the golf legend alongside each other! The caption accompanying the post read, “What a moment. Finau, on the other hand, had finished T5 at the event. “I dreamed since I was a kid of competing against Tiger, playing against him in the final group, being paired with him in the final group of a Masters or a U.S. Open, and that’s what my dreams were made of as a kid,” he had later shared on GOLF’s Subpar podcast. The World No. 14’s latest Instagram post has also seen an outpouring of love and support from golf enthusiasts!

While Woods is away recuperating at his home, Finau had last appeared at the Rocket Mortgage Classic in Detroit. The 6-time PGAT winner had unfortunately missed the cut at the competition. The 33-year-old is not a part of the field for this week’s Scottish Open, a tournament which is being held at North Berwick in Scotland from July 13th to 16th.
