The DP World Tour’s Horizon Irish Open at The K Club, Ryder Course, Ireland culminated on Sunday. 25-year-old Vincent Norrman took home the win and a cut of the $6 million prize purse. Norrman won the title with a 7-under 65 in the final round.

Many top players were also in the field to claim the title, but at the end of a fierce battle, the Swedish golfer prevailed over everyone else. This must leave other golfers, especially the ones in title contention, with a bitter aftertaste. Not this professional golfer though. He is rather grateful.

Shane Lowry started strong in the event. He recorded consecutive 68s to finish the first and second rounds. He shot 68 on Sunday as well, eventually finishing T3 with a total score of 12-under 276. Only two strokes separated him from Norrman.

However, despite losing on his home turf, Lowry seems to be in pretty good spirits. After the final round, the Irishman sat down for a press conference to share his views. He discussed his swing, his current form, and the Ryder Cup preparations.

A reporter asked what his thoughts were on the Irish Open and its status in the golfing world. Lowry replied that everyone on the golf course did a wonderful job. The weather was also pleasant. Additionally, the crowd was amazing. ”This week is one of the best Irish Opens I ever remember,” said the Irishman. ”I don’t remember it being as good as that. I really enjoyed my week,” he added.

He may not have won the event, but he certainly has got very good practice ahead of the all-important Ryder Cup later this month. He is now heading to the Marco Simone Golf and Country Club in Rome.

Some exciting days are ahead for Lowry

Shane Lowry was the captain’s pick and many were not happy with his selection in the Ryder Cup squad. No wonder he is looking at the event to prove his point. ‘There’s going to be a lot of people there tomorrow and kind of get the juices flowing for a couple weeks’ time. I’ve never actually seen the course. Looking forward to seeing it. It’s an exciting few days ahead,” said 36-year-old golfer.
