The much-criticized transfer of Jon Rahm from the PGA Tour to LIV Golf caught a lot of attention this time last year. Even though rumors of his move had been flying around for a long time, fans were still surprised to learn that Rahm had actually made the switch.
To be fair, who would blame him? After all, there were $566 million up for grabs. The lucrative offer presented by LIV Golf should have been reason enough for most pros to be convinced to jump ship. The added benefit of a less stressful schedule may have been the icing on the cake for the Spaniard.
But as per reports, fewer golf events every year were as important as the big money contract for Jon Rahm. Rahm was always looking to slow down on the professional golf front. Rambo had previously admitted that he wanted to spend more time with his family.

That is exactly what he got when he signed for LIV Golf. Getting to play at the highest level with some of the best pros around the world for a far more lucrative paycheck intrigued Rahm. But having the leeway to spend more time with his family sealed the deal for him. The 30-year-old has always been a big-time family guy. Even when he won the green jacket in 2023, the first thing he did was embrace his wife and sons on the course. Everyone could see how pleased Rahm was to share that special moment in his career with his family.
Jon Rahm recently spoke about the importance of being a part of his children’s life. In another video on Bob Does Sports, Rahm joined the crew of the YouTube channel for a fun taco challenge. This was not his first collaboration with the cast of the show. He had done a 3v1 challenge on the channel about two weeks ago.
This time around, when the group was heading towards the 4th hole on their golf carts, Robby Berger asked Rahm, “Did you say you’re wise for your age, John Rahm?” while the latter was munching down on a taco. Reacting to the awkward timing of the question, Rahm said, “Just hitting me up for failure here,” as he didn’t really present himself in that manner at the moment.
“Some things, I would say yes,” said Jon Rahm while holding a taco. He added that he has become much wiser “especially after being a dad. My kids are the happiest people I know.” Rahm then shared a bit of wisdom from his experience as he stated, “Never be afraid to be a kid again.” Getting back to talking about his children, Rahm added, “That innocent joy they have is best in life. So if you can do that, anything you do with them is the best.”

It seems that Jon Rahm is really appreciating all the time he has to spend with his family. This is not even the first time he has spoken about this situation. Soon after leaving the PGA Tour, Jon Rahm had something similar to say about family time.

Jon Rahm’s justifies his decision to leave the PGA Tour
Back in December 2023, Jon Rahm had explained to his fans why he chose to leave the PGA Tour in favor of LIV Golf. Speaking to the media, Rahm said, “I rarely get to spend one one-on-one time with each one and be quality time because usually I’m playing and have to share those hours that I have with them,” as he spoke about the lack of time he had due to his PGA Tour commitments. He also mentioned, “It’s really fun to be with both of them,” as he talked about his two sons.
It’s a bittersweet moment for the fans as they might understand where Jon Rahm is coming from, but they would still miss him on the PGA Tour. So it’s safe to believe that they might have been overjoyed hearing that Jon Rahm had been reinstated in the DP World Tour. From the 2025 season, fans will be able to see Jon Rahm play in the European events, majors, and possibly also the Ryder Cup 2025.
