The Commentators

Play-by-play commentary will be handled by Steve Sands, Grant Boone, and Tom Abbott. Abbott is returning for his third NBC Olympics assignment as a hole announcer after serving in the same role at the 2016 Rio Olympics and Tokyo Olympics in 2021. That’s not all; Abbott has also been a known figure at GOLF Channel since 2005, ever since he started working as a hole announcer and play-by-play host for the LPGA Tour, PGA TOUR, and major events.

Grant Boone is making his Olympic debut with NBC Sports, serving as a play-by-play announcer. The amazing part is that he has over 20 years of experience in the field! Currently, he works for the Golf Channel’s LPGA Tour tournament coverage.

And last but not least, Steve Sands. Sands is working with the NBC Olympics for the fifth time. He has covered golf at the Olympics twice before, starting in Rio in 2016. He has also reported on speedskating at the Olympics in Sochi and PyeongChang. This experienced trio will bring the action to life for viewers, describing every shot and every moment of drama.

All the reporting will be handled by John Wood, Karen Stupples, and Rex Hoggard. Wood has had quite a journey in the golf world. In his three years of joining NBC, this is the first time he is reporting directly from the golf course. Before joining NBC in 2021, Wood spent over 20 years as a caddie on the PGA Tour; he even helped Matt Kuchar win a bronze medal at the 2016 Olympics!

The 2004 AIG Women’s Open winner, Karen Stupples, is back at the NBC Olympics for the third time! Having worked as an analyst at the 2016 and 2021 Olympics, Stupples Stupples is working as a reporter this year. She has vast experience working with the Golf Channel in 2013 and reporting on LPGA Tour events.

Rex Hoggard is working with NBC Sports at the Olympics for the first time, reporting on golf. He’s an experienced sportswriter and senior writer for the Golf Channel. Hoggard also has a show of his own! Hoggard co-hosts a popular podcast called “Rex & Lav” with Ryan Lavner, where they discuss and debate the latest golf news and topics.

The analysts and the studio hosts

The NBC team is led by none other than eight-time PGA Tour winner Brad Faxon and three-time PGA Tour winner Johnson Wagner, who will provide expert analysis throughout the competition. While it is his first time covering the Olympics, Faxon has served as an analyst before at the PGA Tour events and Golf Central Live From Studio news programming on GOLF Channel.

Wagner is making his debut as a tower announcer at the Olympics. Previously, he worked as an analyst and on-course reporter for the same channel as Faxon. Brandel Chamblee and Paige Mackenzie will be in charge of studio analysis for the men’s golf competition, with George Savaricas and Amy Rogers hosting the event. This is going to be Chamblee’s first Olympic assignment for NBC Sports, serving as a studio analyst. He joined NBC in 2003. Mackenzie’s presence in Paris will mark her second Olympic coverage.

While this is Savaricas’s first time working with NBC as a studio host, he does have quite a bit of experience in the field. He’s a familiar face on the Golf Channel, hosting shows like Golf Central and Golf Today, and also doing play-by-play commentary for PGA Tour events. As for Rogers, having hosted hosts Golf Central and Golf Today on the Golf Channel and worked as a reporter on many LPGA Tour events, she is also making her debut as a studio host for NBC.
