The 2020 Tokyo Olympics had a great golf run for the USA. PGA Tour Pro Xander Schauffele won the gold for his country with an 18-under. Apart from him, other players from the USA were Collin Morikawa(4), Justin Thomas, and Patrick Reed. And well, they all came in the top 25 on the National platform.
“Just in shock. I was trying so hard to just stay calm. … But man, it was stressful. And I made that putt and it was just a huge weight lifted off my shoulders and just very relieved and happy,” said Xander Schauffele. He was greeted and congratulated by several other mates, but the happiness of lifting the trophy truly was unparalleled.

Xander Schauffele ended the gold medal hopes of the Slovakian player Rory Sabbatini by one stroke. The fourth round was a rather tense one, and it was a cut-throat competition between the two pros. Here are some of the best moments of Xander Schauffele’s victory run in Tokyo:
1. Xander Schauffele’s penalty
On the 14th hole in the ultimate round, Xander Schauffele sent off his tee shot right off the fairway to putt into the par-5 hole. It landed in the bushes outside the greens. This kept him one stroke behind, tied with Hideki Matsuyama for a while. He had to take a one-stroke penalty to get out. It took him three more shots to reach the green, causing it to be a bogey.

2. Taking over the lead on the 17th hole
As the golfers entered the final round at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020, Xander Schauffele and Rory Sabbatini were tied through the 16th hole. Schauffele hit a 6-foot birdie on the second last hole to take over the lead by one stroke, while Sabbatini made an even par. Both of them ended the round with pars, and that was the most epic moment for Schauffele.

3. Xander Schauffle’s finishing even par
One par for the gold was what Xander Schauffele needed on the final hole. He kept calm and hit his driver to the right. It gave the ball a nice swing, but it was blocked by the trees. This forced him to lay up short of water. Then, he hit a lob wedge from around 15 feet behind the pin, and the ball spun back to 4 feet. As the ball dropped into the hole, so did his driver as he grabbed his first victory since January 2019.
