Wind whips, rain lashes, and lightning strikes—golf’s eternal dance with nature continues. The latest being the winds of Royal Troon, which swept DeChambeau and McIlroy out of the greens within two days. The first round of the Paris Olympics saw a brief pause due to lightning, which made things worse as well. But as fans, should we be hopeless? Well, before you decide that, here is what you need to know about the weather forecast for Le Golf National.

Are there low chances of precipitation this Saturday?

The skies in Paris will be mostly cloudy for the third round at Le Golf National, with 94% cloud coverage. In the morning, the average temperature can be expected somewhere near 75.2 °F, with the wind blowing westward at 6.84 mph. The wind gusts, however, will be about 17.4 mph.

While AccuWeather is estimating the probability of precipitation to be around 7% only, they have listed it as 0.0 mm. Hence, golf fans should not be wary about their idols facing extremely wet greens. 70% humidity and 6.2 miles of visibility should not be an issue either.

But golfers who go a little later in the afternoon might expect a rise in wind gusts by 1.24 mph as well as its speed at 9.32 mph. The temperature will also go up to 78.8 °F. Although the probability of rain would also go up to 18%, reports do not list a change in its precipitation amount. Players can also feel the humidity coming down to only 53% by the afternoon.

But will the present weather affect Team USA’s progression in the race for gold? And how has the team fared so far?

When lightning struck the Olympic greens, two USA representatives still made it in the top 10: Xander Schauffele at T2 with a 6-under, and Scottie Scheffler tied with many others at T6 with a 4-under. As the event unfolded next in the round with better weather conditions, two things changed a little. The winner of two Majors of the season, Schauffele, could climb up to the first spot, tied with the former leading Japanese golfer, Hideki Matsuyama, at 11-under after 36 holes.

While Scheffler is still maintaining a spot with a T10 finish and an overall score of 6-under. Although things look quite well for Team USA at the moment, they should not let go of their bird’s eye, as Spanish golfer Jon Rahm, the winner of the last Olympics’ 7-way playoff, and bronze medalist C.T. Pan are all high up on the list.

When it comes to Morikawa, he is not doing bad per se. Morikawa finished T29 at the end of round one, but he could eventually skip 10 spots and rise to T19 by the end of the second round. At the moment, he has a total score of 4-under. However, Wyndham Clark is reported to be struggling on the greens, for his rank is T46 after two rounds out of a field of only 60! Still over par, Clark might find it a little hard to overcome all scores in the upcoming rounds. Yet, Team USA has nothing to fear, as the former gold medalist is again at the top of the list.
