On his Instagram handle Kim shared a photo of new Nike sneakers gifted to him by the brand. With the new shoes, there was also a note.
It reads, “You tee it up against the very best every week. The competition on the course never backs down or covers but neither does your determination and focus. The result is victory at the highest level. Celebrate the win but we know that ‘there is no finish line’. We invite you to wear these shoes during the tournament in which you entered the winner’s circle this time last year.”

This week Kim returns to the Shriners Children’s Open as the defending champion. Last year this was his second win on the PGA Tour. This will also be the first defense on the Tour something he couldn’t do at the Wyndham Championship due to his injury.
He will be playing with extra pressure because in Korea after turning 19, all able-bodied males are obligated to serve in the military for 18 and 21 months. Exemptions are granted on the basis of cultural justification, like an Olympic medal or something of grand significance.
