Did Wyndham Clark's tweet cross the line, or is it just part of the competitive spirit?

The war of words between Byeong-Hun An and Wyndham Clark at the Presidents Cup is taking a turn. It all began when Si Woo Kim mimicked Steph Curry’s iconic “night-night” celebration after holing an unlikely pitch shot. The golfer ran on the greens while keeping both hands on his right ear, mimicking sleep. Although that pitch shot did nothing but tie Tom Kim’s foursomes against America’s Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay, it certainly has sparked some controversies. And Team International’s Byeong-Hun An has something to say about it.

Later, the PGA Tour posted on X, featuring Wyndham Clark, where he took a jab at Si Woo Kim’s celebration. Witnessing that, Byeong-Hun An shared a post replying to Clark and said, “You always have a guy in your group who doesn’t do s–t but talk s–t all day,” with a laughing emoji. However, it led to a few unexpected turns, and the golfer was forced to delete his tweet. Hun An politely said, “I’m deleting my tweet. My apologies. I want to be a better person than that.”

Despite that, American fans didn’t like it, and one of them took a jab at Byeong-Hun An and said, “Or at least a better golfer than that. I can’t really say a player hasn’t done shit when you’ve literally never won a PGA Tour event.” The fan pointed out Clark’s 2023 US Open win, and 2024 AT&T Pebble Beach win and noted that Hun An has not won any event on the Tour. The international golfer reacted to his critic saying, “I’d like to be a better person than a better golfer. I bet your mom thinks the same way,” he said in his latest post.

After Saturday afternoon foursomes, the American squad is leading with an 11-7 score. To win the Presidents Cup, the international squad will have to go the extra edge on Sunday. As this heated battle continues between both teams, it’s not the only controversy we have witnessed at the 2024 Presidents Cup.

Tom Kim’s ‘disrespectful’ action towards Scottie Scheffler at the Presidents Cup

Did Wyndham Clark's tweet cross the line, or is it just part of the competitive spirit?

Have an interesting take?

Scottie Scheffler rarely shows any emotions when he is on the greens. However, on Thursday, Scheffler and Russell Henley were playing against Sungjae Im and Tom Kim. The 2x Masters champion shot a crucial birdie putt on the 7th hole and excitedly yelled, “What was that?” Strange! Even the commentators were surprised and said, “Scheffler is showing some emotion.” The incident garnered a reaction from the golf community with some people saying, “Tom Kim looks (and should be) scared of Scottie.”

The drama didn’t stop there. Later, Tom Kim and Sungjae Im left the 8th hole to walk 60 yards away to the 9th tee box, even before the #1 golfer was done putting. Paul McGinley didn’t like it and said, “That’s bordering on bad behavior. That’s disrespectful in my opinion.” Witnessing some even started thinking that Scottie Scheffler and Tom Kim, who share a brotherly bond, might have ruined their relationship. Luckily, nothing like that happened so far, and whatever happened was in the heat of this biennial event.
