Thomas Pieters’ game is characterized by power and precision. Born in Belgium in 1992, Pieters began playing golf at the tender age of six, honing his skills to become the formidable player he is today. Recently, the rising star made headlines about his move to LIV Golf. However, there were some misunderstandings about the reason behind his move. Just like many other players, LIV Golf’s big paydays lured one more great golfer away from the PGA Tour.
Thomas Pieters explicate the rationale behind his resignation
The DP world tour star has had a desire to join LIV Golf since its inaugural season in 2022. So, as soon as he got a chance to join the breakaway faction, he accepted it.

He further clarified that his decision was not influenced by the fact he was not invited to participate at the Genesis invitational despite being the world no. 34. “Honestly, I know how it must have looked, but it had nothing to do with it,” he said. “I just became a bit angry that I wasn’t playing as World No. 34. [The tweet] was just bad timing, I guess.”
Moreover, the fact that he might not be able to participate in the Ryder Cup anymore, did make the decision to move a bit difficult for him.
Thomas received an offer from LIV Golf just a few days ago. The surprising offer came because Hudson Sawford had to undergo surgery. Because of this, he had to step away from the course for this season.
Pieters hopes that Sawford recovers soon. However, as a professional athlete, he believes in grabbing the opportunity when it presents itself. And that is what he did when he was offered to replace Hudson. “As a professional, you have to take opportunities when they arise.”
After this, the golfer has been busy in making all the required arrangements, as the new season of LIV golf is right around the corner.

The Belgian golfer had no desire to pursue a full-time career on the PGA Tour. Because it is difficult for him to be a member and live in Europe.
The LIV schedule requires him to be away from home for just 14 weeks a year. Moreover, Thomas believes that this will be more conducive to his performance.
Pieters is being offered $25 million for the LIV Golf 2023 season. For him, working less and the huge payday is more desirable as he has to look out for his family as well.
