After not winning for two years on LIV Golf, the Chilean golfer has carded two incredible victories! Joaquin Nimena started the 2024 LIV Golf season with a win at the season opener at Mayakoba and recently bagged his second in the breakaway league at LIV Golf Jeddah. However, in the post-match interview, he was told that he had become one of the favorites to win a major event. To which Niemann replied with a complaining rhetoric question and shot daggers at OWGR for not providing the points.
Since then, the golf world has sparked numerous reactions to Niemann’s comments. From getting called a crybaby to being named the next Sergio Garcia, the 25-year-old has the netizens running after him for whatever he has recently felt!

“Is Joaquin Niemann the new Sergio Garcia?” The Golf Digest writer, Christopher Powers, asked a simple question on X which was answered by six similarities that were followed in the post. Powers’s first similarity between the two pros was that they both broke into golf as teenagers; Garcia was eighteen and Niemann was nineteen.
The second was that, while their origins differ, interestingly, they both come from Spanish-speaking countries: Chile and Spain. The third and fourth resemblance was that they both are considered to be golfers with “superstar potential” and, lastly, are known to have had “elite ball striking” skills.
The last two parallelisms were a hilarious jibe, Powers said that as Garcia won his only major after turning 37 at the Masters in 2017, a similar fate might follow Niemann. Also, both golfers “never stops [sic] whining.” The tweet resonated with many in the golf world. The majority of netizens approved, while a few disapproved of the tweet.

However, the writer later clarified that he loved Niemann and was a ‘Joaco Stan’, and his tweet was written in a lighthearted manner and did not have any malice behind it. The golf stans also chose to share their stance on the tweet.
The golf world reacts to Sergio Garcia and Joaco comparison
The golf admirers reacted in different ways, while some were truly taken aback by the comparison, many were enjoying it and a few even added more similarities that the tweet did not have.

One user disagreed with the comparison. They laughingly emphasized that Niemann was in a far better place than most humans. He had two wins on the PGA Tour and two on LIV with “a boat load of money by the age of 25,” the tweet said.
I’d say 2 pga tour wins, 2 LIV wins, and a boat load of money by the age of 25 is quite nice. Slightly better than most. 😂

One fan added one thing that made Garcia and Joaco stand far apart in comparison. They said ‘that Niemann didn’t have one quality that Garcia possessed, which was, “On course temper tantrums.”
Not quite. He's missing a key stat that Sergio dominates:
On course temper tantrums.

Another was in total agreement with the tweet. They claimed it to be “Nothing but facts.” And had a laugh wondering if, by the end of a decade, it would actually prove to be true.
Nothing but facts here 😂 just another decade before we can find out if this take holds 😂

This user belittled Garcia while trying to disagree with the post. They expressed that Niemann had “far more grace and class” than the 1-time major winner, which makes them different.
He has far more grace and class than Sergio.

Another similarity was pointed out between the two by this fan. Coincidentally, Garcia and Nieman both contained three different vowels in their names.
