Ahead of the championship tournament that begins today, Lydia spoke of her mindset. The world rank 3 said that she didn’t want to think about whether she could win right now and said, “These last couple of weeks, I’ve been trying not to think too much about all the awards and the what-ifs and what could happen.”

She explained that despite her having a great year, others had done just as well. She said, “There are other players who’ve had phenomenal years as well.” Ko is extremely proud of her achievements this year. Ko also says that compared to other seasons, this year was quite competitive, and that added to the thrill. She stated, “I think this season more than any other one, there’s so many players in contention, and I think that’s what makes it super exciting.”

Lydia may have tried not to think about what could be, but she has at least considered it. Ko was in the lead with the most points ahead of the reset. The New Zealander was part of a video where all the contenders were asked what they’d do with the prize money if they won. Lydia had a response too. While others were thinking of buying things and travelling, Lydia thought of something entirely different.

She said“I think I’d just go look at my bank account and see that $2 million; I’d be like, yeah.” Lydia unquestionably just wants to admire her achievement. Ko, who has already won two events on the tour this season, is up against the likes of Atthaya Thitikul and the Australian golfer, Minjee Lee, who’ve also won two events each. World No. 1, Nelly Korda, has her eye on the prize too.
