The official ratings are for the PGA Tour event, The Honda Classic, and the LIV Golf League in Mexico. Since LIV Golf entered the picture last year, the rivalry between the Tours began. And this clash of numbers between the Tours was worth watching. A Twitter golf community has posted the numbers online, and they do not look perfect for the Saudi-backed circuit. Undoubtedly, the fans had their point of view, and they shared it in the comments.
Perry Sook, CEO of the parent company of the CW Network, is content. He said, “Those numbers exceeded our expectations, and, most importantly, the affiliates as well as our own stations were thrilled.” The bar was set low and it was surpassed by the numbers.

NUCLR GOLF has posted official ratings of both rival events. However, the ratings are only for the US-based audience, and it does not mention international numbers. The tweet had a screenshot of the numbers according to the date and event. And it read, “Official ratings are in. This is US viewership for LIV on CW and Honda on NBC. People can make the argument about international audiences, streaming #’s etc but we all know US is the biggest market. It’s why LIV flaunted being in 120M+ homes on US TV.”

The official LIV Golf Updates account chimed in and put forward its views. They said, “It’s obviously not the most expansive data, but the poll on my page right now is suggesting less than 40% are watching LIV through the CW broadcast, which is where those statistics come from.” The reports of Mark Schlabach gave more insight into the topic. According to the reports, CW’s first live broadcast of the LIV Golf League averaged 289,000 viewers on Saturday and Sunday and received a 0.18 household rating. “1.4 million people watched at least a few minutes of the LIV Golf League tournament at Mayakoba”

It stoked Greg Norman when he signed the deal with the CW Network. He had big plans for his league, but the numbers suggested differently for now. Even though the schedules were revealed a week back for the audience across the globe. However, the LIV Golf fans indicated that it is growing the game. The PGA Tour fans are celebrating, but it is not a win. The Saudi-backed circuit is still in the growing process. All the golf enthusiasts presented their POVs in the comments. Take a look at a few of the reactions.
This is actually impressive. Everyone was screaming how bad 20k YT viewers were, now it’s 10x in limited areas of 1 market and majority of fans watched via the app. I don’t think this is the win pga fans think it is. Growing the game 👍

The argument isn’t about int’l audiences. It’s about this literally being the 1st LIV event ever covered on a network, versus a 90+ year old tour that has decades of direct & indirect advertising for its events, a dedicated golf channel & media on side. PGAT SHOULD always win.
