Alejandro Tosti did nothing wrong when he stood his ground against Tony Finau. For him “It’s a war out there,” said his former University coach, J.C. Deacon. Tosti, who earned his PGA Tour card through the Korn Ferry Tour this season, was involved in an argument with the defending champion, Tony Finau.
While rules controversy and disagreements between the playing mates aren’t uncommon, Tosti’s doggedness irked a few. But his coach is not all surprised that the rookie PGA Tour Pro wasn’t intimidated by Finau’s presence.

Finau and Tosti were caught in a heated brawl after their ball stopped at the same position – around 38 feet – from the hole in the 4th green. Finau brought in the third playing pattern Thomas Detry and they both thought Tosti’s ball was away. But the Argentine rookie needed some more convincing before hitting his putt first.
Disclaimer: "Argument" is a strong word, but Tosti was smirking the whole time and Tone looked unamused.

However, Alejandro Tosti looked to be clearly unhappy about the decision and tension seemed to rise thereafter. The 27-year-old fistpumped in front of Finau after his birdie on the par 4, 5th. Tosti’s boldness raised a few eyebrows. Although it didn’t flare up any further, some questioned his attitude. But his coach says the Argentine International is fiercely competitive and won’t concede an inch.
“Alejandro’s not scared of anyone,” JC Deacon, the head coach of Florida Gators told Rich Lerner of NBC. “He probably wants to beat you more than anyone ever wanted to beat you before… It’s a war out there for him, and I think that rubs some people the wrong way, and maybe that came out a little bit today.”
Good stuff from @realjcdeacon on Ale Tosti in this excellent interview w/ @RichLernerGC:

The 27-year-old tied for the lead after carding 68. Finau, on the other hand, posted 2-over 72 to squander his lead and tie for the 9th spot. For Alejandro Tosti, this isn’t the first time he was at the center of the controversy. Only last year, the Rosario native was banned from a Korn Ferry Tour event.
Tosti has had his fair share of controversy
Last August, Tosti was banned from playing the Boise Open due to ‘disciplinary action.’ The Tour officials refused to elucidate on the matter any further at that time. But it didn’t cause any major trouble for the 27-year-old as he was already PGA Tour bound at that time having eight top-10s under his belt, in addition to one silverware.

Even before that, Tosti was involved in a bizarre ruling controversy, for seemingly no fault of his own. The Argentine was one of the six players to be penalized for an ‘unauthorized’ shuttle ride. Per Ryan French of Monday Q Info, Tosti and his two playing partners took a shuttle from the 18th green to the 1st tee when a volunteer offered them a ride.

However, transportation was prohibited for the Tournament, and Alejandro Tosti was deemed a two-stroke penalty. Although he avoided any further troubles at the Texas Children’s Houston Open, all eyes will be on the rookie on Sunday.
