The debate over who is the greatest golfer of all time may never be definitively settled. Jack Nicklaus holds the edge in major victories, but Tiger Woods with 82 PGA Tour wins, is often argued to have achieved these in a more competitive era. So in the end, who is the greatest of the two? According to Bryson DeChambeau, it is the 48-year-old who wins the battle between the GOATs. However, the one-time U.S. Open champion’s opinion came with one special condition.

Bryson DeChambeay released a new YouTube video playing with Garrett Clark (GM Golf) using the hickory clubs. Right as the video started, the two golfers hit the driver and rode the golf cart for the second shot, Clark asked the LIV pro, “Is there only one answer to who the G.OA.T is?” DeChambeau was taken aback by the question as he contemplated how to answer.

Then the Crushers GC captain agreed that there was only one answer and said, “If I’m dead honest,.. not his whole lifetime, for the span of time, Tiger was the greatest to ever play the game.” However, DeChambeau clarified that this was the case for a certain period, arguably the 2000s when Woods completed his Tiger Slam, and the years following it, Woods was the greatest to be present.

On the other hand, the 30-year-old argued that Bobby Jones would have been the greatest if he played with the latest technology and the clubs. Comparing Woods to the 18-time major winner, DeChambeau said, “I look it that way, Jack Nicklaus was the better for the career that he had,” and Woods for the past two decades.

Overall, DeChambeau suggested that both individuals were flourishing in their times, and with that, the G.O.A.T debate was again stuck between Woods and Nicklaus. While the question of who is greatest may always remain unanswered, golf fans surely have an answer when it comes to the great entertainer of the golf world.

Xander Schauffele was indeed the victor at Valhalla; however, DeChambeau was the one who garnered all the praises for entertainment and showmanship. The LIV pro was amicable with fans, interacted with them whenever he could and his pot shot jump was the talk of the town. DeChambeau was appreciated on and off the course and argued to win the fans over other PGA Tour pros.

Moreover, being the runner-up at Valhalla, preceded by a T6 at the Masters, compelled the golf world to acknowledge DeChambeau’s skills as a pro golfer, which were questioned when he joined LIV Golf. Coming to the 124th U.S. Open, Bryson DeChambeau would be expected to turn the crowd in his favor with on-course style of play and might as well win the silverware too!
