Tiger Woods is back in action—but how? A week ago, he announced his return home and said, “I am back home now and plan to focus on my recovery and rehab. Thank you for all the support.” While he is still recovering at home, his latest post on X confirmed his return to the greens. This is not exactly true; but a prank instead. However, it didn’t go the way Woods might have expected it to.

After undergoing back surgery last year, Woods recently had another procedure to repair a ruptured left Achilles tendon sustained during training at home. Now, following the surgery, his Masters appearance is already in jeopardy, and his recent joke now hurts the fans even more.

Woods recently shared a post on X, revealing, “I can’t believe I am saying this, but a few weeks after rupturing my left Achilles, the sleeping in a hyperbaric chamber plus the explosive lifts my doctors and trainers have me ready to play the Masters next week! Can’t wait! See y’all on the course.” Before believing anything, just look at the date. That’s right; it’s April 1st, April Fool’s Day. Later, the golfer also confirmed with another post saying, “P.S. April Fools my Achilles is still a mess :)”

Usually, an Achilles rupture typically takes 6–9 months of recovery. With this, not only his appearance at the Masters but also his participation in the rest of the majors remains a question. So, forget about winning. The 49-year-old might not even get a chance to try for his 16th major title this week.

This is, indeed, very heartbreaking news. While fans could recover from it, Woods’ April Fool’s joke fueled the fire even more. They started expressing their frustration in the comments not long after the post went viral.

Fans are not happy with Tiger Woods’s joke

Expressing their emotion and how much they want Woods on the greens, one fan said, “Not something to joke about Tiger! We need you back for real.” It’s been six years since the 49-year-old won at the 2019 ZOZO CHAMPIONSHIP. As the saga of his unfortunate injury continues, this fan wants prime Woods back on the greens and dominating just like he used to.

If Woods competes in the major, he will be aiming for his 16th title, bringing him one step closer to surpassing Jack Nicklaus’s record of 18 major victories. That alone should explain the gravitas of the situation. However, seeing Woods casually joke about it, another added, “This would be the lamest April Fool’s joke ever.”

This is a tough sight for his fans, as one expressed it, saying, “I love you Tiger but this is cruel. So many of us wish you to be healthy.” Since his near-fatal accident in 2021, nobody has seen Tiger Woods completely healthy on the greens, competing in a full Tour season. Every year, there is something that’s holding him back, including his back surgery from last year.

While many were sad over this, some fans decided to look at it just like a prank. They still wished him best and are hoping for his recovery with comments like “Tiger got jokes, but we do hope you return to play ASAP!” and “Wish it was true! Hope your physically ready soon.”
