LIV Golf came into action last year. And as we know, many golfers have defected to the Saudi-backed league. As the bold decision helped them bag a lucrative deal, it cost them a lot as well. As the saga unfolded, it became a reality that LIV players had to go the extra mile to get selected for the Ryder Cup.
Except for Brooks Koepka, many popular Ryder Cup names like Dustin Johnson, who presently plays for LIV Golf, missed out on the tournament. Recently, there was a Ryder Cup controversy regarding Johnson that led to an online argument that called out the two-time major championship winner despite not being a part of Zach Johnson’s Ryder Cup team.

Dustin Johnson is one of the most experienced players the Ryder Cup has had in the past few years. Besides, he made five Ryder Cup appearances in total after turning pro. The LIV golfer is also one of the six players to have a Ryder Cup record of 5-0-0.
The story doesn’t just end here; when the two sides squared off in the biennial tournament, Johnson played a massive role in helping Team USA win last year. Even Xander Schauffele said that he’d want to be paired with Johnson for the rest of his career if given a choice, as per an interview. Definitely, Schauffele knows his fellow American’s potential.
Recently, a golf enthusiast made an appreciation post for Johnson. In the post, he wrote, “This man scored 5 points on his own last time out – just saying” reflecting on his Whistling Straits performance, which led to the USA winning 19-9.
He scored 1 on his own. The other 4 were with a partner!

But defying the devotee’s assertion, another former PGA pro, Colt Knost, retweeted the post, saying, “He scored 1 on his own. The other 4 were with a partner!” belittling the 39-year-old’s contribution. As the post went up, the golf community poured in their thoughts.
Fans poured in their diverse opinions as the post went viral
As the post went viral, golf netizens came in like swarms of bees. The people even wrote their remarks on the same, highlighting their views on Dustin’s performance.

One fan commented that the team selection was wrong and missed out on important Ryder Cup names.
That is technically correct, but you can’t deny this team does miss guys like DJ, Bryson, and Reed. Not enough dogs on this roster.

Another chipped in the same tone and said:
He should be there as a top 12 golfer from the US and there’s no denying that from anyone!

Again, a fan said the USA Ryder Cup team doesn’t have the correct lineup in 2023.
You are avoiding the point Colt. The point is this probably isn’t the best team we could have and it certainly wasn’t the right lineup given who we had

One fan criticized the pairing of the USA Team.
The USA Capt blew this, those pairings in the 1st session could not have been any worst. Not starting Bruce Koepka was almost criminal.

Another fan asserted DJ’s total Ryder Cup record.
What was “his” point total? All 24 players will have a record at the end of the Ryder Cup. DJ record was 5-0.

One fan mentioned the score to Colt.
Those 4 partners went 0-4 Colt

Those 5 points are almost equal to what Rickie has scored in 4 Ryder Cups!
