Joe Biden has accepted the honorary Chairman position for the 2022 Presidents Cup. Much like his predecessors, the 46th POTUS will become the eighth straight U.S. President to participate in the Presidents Cup. However, some fans have begun comparing Biden to former Presidents in terms of his golf game, most notably his opponent during the 2020 presidential election, Donald Trump. We take a look at what the fans had to say about the recent headline.


The President’s Cup has been a biennial event since 1994. The event comprises of Team USA facing golfers from the rest of the world apart from Europe. The 2022 President’s Cup will be held at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina from September 20th to 25th.

Joe Biden has taken the responsibility to maintain the tradition of the prestigious tournament. The 79-year-old was thanked by the PGA Tour commissioner, Jay Monohan for playing a special role in the tournament. However, fans on Twitter have quickly turned the President’s participation into a comparison with the former presidents.

While President Joe Biden doesn’t play golf as frequently as his two immediate predecessors, he is also no amateur. Although his current GHIN index of 6.7 should be viewed as a little “soft” since he hasn’t reported a score since 2018, he holds memberships at Wilmington Country Club and Fieldstone Country Club in Delaware. He seems to have been somewhat occupied since.

Golf has been an integral part of most former Presidents. Every president who arrives at the White House to begin his tenure is frequently seen enjoying the sport. George W. Bush was popular for displaying his golf talent similar to his father.

He has been linked with helping and promoting LIV Golf and even took part in the first Pro-Am event of the lucrative series.

So it is quite evident that some netizens began the comparison between 2020 US Presidential candidates. However, most people criticized the PGA Tour and shared their disappointment with the Tour’s decision.
