The former world no. 1 has been having an average year so far, but last week his game and score took a real hit when he finished the US Open’s second round with a score of 14-over. But the tables have turned this week for him, as he has shot his lowest score of this season and is tied for seventh place on the leader board with a total score of 14-under par. But the question remains: what changed in just a week, and How did he excel at his game so much?

Well, according to the golfer himself, he did not change anything specific for this week. According to him, he was playing the best golf of his career during the week leading up to the US Open. Talking about what went wrong at LACC, he said, “It’s just golf; sometimes it is not as fun as it is others.”

Continuing about what worked for him this week, he said, “Taking a weekend away from golf was potentially the best thing for me.” As a result of the weekend away from the sport, the golfer is “actually enjoying playing golf this week,” and he is in a better frame of mind.

Talking about the course and tournament he is playing, JT claimed that he loves the TPC River Highland course. He added that the Travelers Championship is one of his most played tournaments. But the golf pro also knew that with the ever-competitive field present this week, he would need something “stupid low” to remain in contention Sunday.

He also expressed how grateful he was to be in the position that he currently sits in on the leaderboard. He shared his vision for the championship’s fourth round and added, “I am going to shoot as low as I can, probably take a 9 or 10 under.” Well, the golf world certainly can’t wait for the two-time major champion to play like the major champion that he is during the final round!
