The highly anticipated 2023 LIV Golf, London has been organized at the Centurion Club, located to the west of St.Albans, which boasts a prize purse of $25 million. After the inaugural LIV Golf Invitational Series, this is the second installment of LIV Golf on the same historic course. Many of the previous LIV athletes who took part in the last season’s match, are contesting in this one as well. One of those athletes is the 5-time major winner, Phil Mickelson.

As round 1 of the event is already over, the players have somewhat got a taste of this year’s game and crowd. Amidst all these, what experiences did the people’s favorite lefty have?

The iconic Centurion Club is basically the birthplace of LIV Golf. This is where it first sowed the seeds, and it is from here that the league started getting popular gradually. Naturally, coming back to the same place would get the players nostalgic. And the loyal LIV athlete, Mickelson, was no exception.

In a recent interview, Mickelson candidly spoke, “It’s different. You can see that there’s not any uncertainty if it’s okay to clap like everybody’s out here supportive and there’s a lot more people and it’s been nice to come back to where it started. A lot’s transpired the last year. It’s pretty amazing where you know, how far things have come and it’s been fun for us to play together…it was a fun day even though we didn’t score the way we wanted to”

Thus, in the interview, Mickelson basically reflected on the brighter part of the game, that the animosity for LIV Golf has lessened and the situation has gotten better. Mickelson further added, that he thoroughly enjoyed the 1st round of the tournament and appreciated the honor to swing his club on the same greens once again. Despite his marginal scores after round 1, the 53-year-old didn’t restrict himself from relishing the moment of joy.
