Kathryn Newton is an American heartthrob. Starring as Cassie Lang in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantamania’ may have made her a household name, but she is no stranger to the golf circuits. The actress has carried the torch for the sport for years, and now meeting one of the legends has her reeling.

They say ‘Never meet your heroes,’ but when the hero, or rather, heroine, is an LPGA legend, it is hard not to want to have at least a one-word exchange. Ant-man fame Kathryn Newton had her fangirl moment when she came across the Superstar of the LPGA circuit in Surrey ahead of the tee-off for the AIG Women’s Open.

Annika Sornstam is almost as synonymous with the LPGA as Tiger Woods is with the PGA Tour. The 52-year-old golfer from Sweden has a remarkable legacy in women’s golf that began when she turned pro in 1990. She may have gone back and forth on retiring, but Sorenstam is arguably one of the GOATs on the LPGA circuit.

Newton is an honorary golfer and met the legend on the grounds of the prestigious AIG Women’s Open, which is the 5th Major tournament on the LPGA and LET Tour’s schedule. The two ladies were spotted chatting on the greens. The Pokemon actress took to Instagram to share a soundless video of the two of them talking on her story.

She wrote, “Talking w the legend and game changer @annika59 about @annikafdn and all we can do to grow the game and why we love it so much.” Along with Annika Sorenstam and her namesake foundation, the actress also credited R&A Golf, which hosted the epic event and invited the teen from the early years of ‘Supernatural’ on the golfing greens. She also shared an image of herself with the 10-time major winner, saying, “Gonna have to frame this.”

Newton shared her heartfelt gratitude to the Swedish golfer for teaching her so much about the sport. She smiled ear to ear while standing beside Annika Sorenstam, the LPGA Tour legend. This undoubtedly adds to the highlights Newton has seen in the sport, among which was her recent appearance at the final men’s major!

Newton’s past with majors in golf

This is not the first time that the MCU star has made an appearance on the golf course before a major event. A month ago, when the PGA Tour and DP World Tour were preparing the grounds of Royal Liverpool for the Open Championship, they hosted the Open Invitational. Kathryn Newton, along with several celebrities, broke ground on the professional golf course for an 18-hole game.
