The constant criticism faced by sports athletes has ruined the confidence and careers of many stars. Moreover, at times the victims of criticism aren’t even the athletes, instead, it’s their families who have to undergo the harassment in public. LIV Golf star, Patrick Reed, recently shared a distressing incident his daughter shared nearly four years ago.

Before becoming a part of the Saudi-backed Tour, Reed already had an infamous reputation in the PGA Tour. The golfer had cheating allegations dating back to his college days. Moreover, with his move to LIV Golf, the 32-year-old has constantly been a victim of online hatred for his cheating accusations.

But the hatred has gone beyond Reed and has affected his family. Ahead of the 2022 BMW PGA Championship, the LIV Golf star had an open heart conversation where he revealed that his daughter was bullied four years ago at her Nursery School, as people labeled the former Masters Champion as a “cheater”.

Patrick Reed reveals his 4-year-old daughter got bullied

Back in 2018, Reed was enjoying his little break from the PGA Tour at his home in Texas. His four-year-old daughter, Windsor-Wells returned from her nursery school with a visibly upset face. She then asked her golfer father, “Daddy, Are you okay?”

What do you mean honey? I’m fine,” said Patrick Reed, who was bewildered after watching tears fall out of his daughter’s face. The 32-year-old then realized that his daughter was getting bullied at her nursery school. One of the bullies told her daughter, “nobody likes your daddy, your daddy is a bad person”.

The 2018 Masters winner ended the story by saying, “She was getting bullied because of me, all because of what’s written on a piece of paper, and it’s fake and fictitious and wrong. I can handle a lot of things, but that’s the lowest blow you can get”.

It’s quite a shame that a 4-year-old has to hear about such horrible things about her father. Patrick Reed has evolved as a golfer and has begun a new chapter of his life at LIV Golf. It’s time for everyone to focus on Reed’s new beginning because as far as his golfing abilities are concerned, it’s no doubt that the former Masters’ winner has got what it takes to reach the pinnacle of the sport.
