Every sport has some things which aren’t talked about enough or don’t receive as much credit as they deserve. Have you ever wondered what they could be in golf?  In fact, one could even say that golf in itself is one of the most underrated professional sports in the world. However, John Daly reveals what he thinks is the one aspect of golf that is least talked about.

A couple of weeks ago, Daly and his son John Daly II bagged a massive victory at the 2021 PNC Championship. Moreover, they defeated crowd favorite Charlie and Tiger Woods with a record-breaking score of 27-under. Post their win, Daly appeared in an episode of the Full Send podcast and with Bob Menery, Kyle Forgeard, and Salim Sirur, conversed on many topics.

John Daly talks about the importance of iron play

Speaking about the order in which golf is learned, he leads the conversation to how underrated mid-distance play in golf is. He said, “Everybody in golf that plays on a professional level can hit a driver. They can hit a five iron, they can hit a six iron. But it’s a 125 150 yards that in that means a lot. Nobody ever talks about it.”

He added, “No guy that wins a golf tournament ever talks about well you know I hit that wedge you know form out the rough from 122 yards… they talk about either the drive they hit to get him there or whatever but golf is all about a 150 yards.

Further, after Salim’s inquiry, Daly goes on to reveal that he carried one iron in his bag. Subsequently, he spoke about the best iron shot he’s ever hit in his professional career. Well, it’s not every day that we hear of one iron!
