An upheaval has arrived in the golf world. After the new partnership between LIV and the PGA Tour was announced on Tuesday, players from both sides are in a state of confusion. With little to no information on what changes will take place, players are left in a state of panic.

In order to address the major concerns, both the PGA Tour and LIV Golf held separate special meetings in the hope of clearing the air. And while on one side the loyal Tour players were promised huge rewards, on the other, the Saudi Series’ CEO, Greg Norman, made some bold guarantees.

There has been no news about the position of Greg Norman from any official body. The Australian golfer, who is otherwise very expressive of his thoughts, has been officially very quiet in the last two days as well. But more than 200 LIV members were soothed on Wednesday morning on a group call headed by Greg.

In the meeting, Norman reportedly told all the players that the league isn’t going anywhere and “that there will be no operational changes in 2023, 2024, 2025 & into the future.”

Amid the news of the merger, all types of wild speculation are being made, and the internet is filled with theories. But Norman’s statement at least provides direction and a sense of security for the LIV side. Based on his remarks, it seems like the two sides will function separately despite the merger too. But for more intricate details, it seems like the players, like the fans, will have to wait.

Fortunately for those who love the PGA Tour LIV drama, the merger hasn’t brought an end to the infamous animosity that prevails. Many on the Tour side still harbor resentment towards the defectors, especially now that they will perhaps have lived the best of both worlds. As per Golf.com’s recent report, Rory McIlroy even lashed out at the new series and said, “I still hate LIV. Like, I hate LIV.”

Perhaps resentment isn’t alone on the Tour’s side either. With the merger, Monahan was announced to be the new entity’s CEO; hence, the big question around Norman’s role in the entire new entity is a big mystery. Moreover, he was also not included in the initial decision of the merger, so he too may not be ecstatic about the billion-dollar merger. And perhaps rightly so after all; he did lead LIV till this point, putting a lot on the line, including his reputation and multi-million-dollar business.
