Golf may appear to be a man’s sport, but that certainly is not the case. Behind every successful golfer lies an honest and trust-worthy caddie. It’s not the sport of an individual player but of the player-caddie duo. It’s true that players are the ones who get the limelight most of the time, but even they cannot deny the importance of a caddie. Synergy is the key factor; it can either take the golfer to the top or to the bottom. And that is why Dustin Johnson and Joe LaCava come to one’s mind whenever the word ‘synergy’ is mentioned.
It will not be wrong to say that it’s nothing short of a breakup when a long-term player and caddie part ways. But at times, it’s just important to move ahead in their career, and at other times, it just makes more sense to go their separate ways. Something similar happened with PGA star, Dustin Johnson and caddie Joe LaCava back in 2011, when Tiger Woods made an offer. But that offer came with a price….what were the repercussions it had on Tiger’s relationship with Dustin?

While the former coach was bringing the heat, Johnson was seen pacifying the situation. Dustin seemed perfectly normal about LaCava’s decision. He said, “Things happen, he (Joe) has got to do what he’s got to do.” He clarified the rumor of a feud between him and Tiger. and said, “I spoke to Tiger about it. There’s no hard feelings at all.”
There is no doubt that Johnson handled the whole situation with the utmost dignity and respect for both Tiger and Joe. LaCava was extremely excited to have gotten the opportunity to caddie for golf legend Tiger Woods. Further talking about Joe, he said, “I still like Joe. It’s a business.” Understanding Joe’s standing in the whole situation, Johnson reiterated, “Joe got offered Tiger’s job so he took it. I can’t blame the guy, he can do what he wants.”
