For most aspiring golfers, college offers a pathway to professional golf. Blades Brown chose a different route, turning professional at 17 to pursue his PGA Tour dream. Less than two years later, he has become the youngest player ever to earn a PGA Tour card through the Korn Ferry Tour.

At 19 years, 4 months, and 20 days old, Brown broke the record previously held by Jason Day, who earned his card at 19 years, 11 months, and 23 days old in 2007.
Day secured his card by finishing fifth on the Nationwide Tour money list, the predecessor to the Korn Ferry Tour, when the top 25 players earned PGA Tour cards. Brown’s runner-up finish at the Korn Ferry Tour Championship on Sunday helped him finish ninth in the season-long points standings, comfortably inside the top 20 who now make the cut.
Speaking about this incredible achievement, Brown said after the event, “What I know for sure is that the golf ball doesn’t care how old I am. The ball doesn’t know whether I’m 60 or 19.”
He delivered an impressive performance, finishing solo second at 18-under-par 266, just two shots behind winner Austin Hitt. He held the 36-hole lead after firing a brilliant 10-under 61 in the second round. His round also featured back-to-back eagles on the ninth and 10th holes, followed by five consecutive birdies to finish.
Brown was told afterward that back-to-back eagles are sometimes referred to in golf circles as an “American.”
He found humor in that, saying, “I was informed it was called an American, which I am American, so it’s very patriotic.”
Brown took a one-shot lead into the final round after shooting 68 on Saturday. However, rainy conditions made Sunday difficult. He couldn’t hold on for his first win at this level. He carded a 3-under 69, while Hitt shot a 6-under 66 to claim the title at 20-under par.
Although Brown missed out on the win, his runner-up finish moved him to ninth in the season-long points standings.
Brown has already proven he can go toe-to-toe with established PGA Tour players, highlighted by a second-round 60 at The American Express in January, where he was tied with World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler for the lead after two rounds. He then had a solo-third finish at the Puerto Rico Open in March, and a tie for 14th at THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson in May.
The last result officially earned him Special Temporary Membership on the PGA Tour, allowing him to accept unlimited sponsor exemptions for the remainder of the 2026 season.
In total, he made 11 appearances on the PGA Tour this season, incredibly making the cut in 9 of them.
Brown’s talent was already evident long before he made his mark on the PGA Tour. At just 16, he broke Bobby Jones’ long-standing record at the 2023 U.S. Amateur Championship, becoming the youngest stroke-play medalist in the event’s history. Jones had set the mark in 1920 at age 18 by tying for medalist honors.
Brown, then a high-school sophomore, fired a course-record 8-under 64 at Colorado Golf Club in the second round of stroke play to finish tied at 7-under 136 and claim co-medalist honors on Tuesday, August 15th 2023.
“To have my name up there with Jack Nicklaus and Bobby Jones, that’s pretty special,” said Brown, who was eliminated from match play by Jackson Koivun in the Round of 32. “But you win, or you learn. I don’t like the word ‘loss.’ I’m going to learn from this.”
The following summer, Brown won medalist honors at the 2024 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship at Oakland Hills. He joined Tiger Woods and Bobby Clampett as one of only three players to earn medalist honors at both the U.S. Amateur and the U.S. Junior Amateur.
At just 16, Brown made the cut at the 2024 Myrtle Beach Classic as an amateur. He shot a bogey-free 5-under 66 on Saturday to finish tied for 26th at 10-under par, earning the title of the tournament’s top amateur.
Brown made 17 Korn Ferry Tour starts this season, recording five top-10 finishes. These included a third-place finish at the Club Car Championship in March, a runner-up finish at the Tulum Championship in April, a tie for fifth at the Evans Scholars Invitational, and a tie for sixth at the Utah Championship.
He made 16 cuts in 18 Korn Ferry Tour starts, capping off a consistent season across both tours. Starting in 2027, Brown will have guaranteed access to the PGA Tour, ending his reliance on sponsor exemptions.
