The PGA TOUR has just announced its Rookie of the Year, and it’s a name you’re going to want to remember. This talented golfer has made waves in the golfing world like never before and we think you may have a strong guess by now. The award is voted on by PGA Tour members who played in at least 15 events during the 2024 season. So who is the winner? Well, if you guessed Nick Dunlap then you are right, my friend!

Dunlap took home the coveted award after receiving 57 percent of the votes to finish ahead of fellow nominees Max Greyserman, Jake Knapp, and Matthieu Pavon. “Nick Dunlap has won the PGA TOUR’s Rookie of the Year Award. He becomes the first player to win events as both an amateur and a professional, collecting two TOUR victories in the ‘24 season at the AMEX & Barracuda”, read the latest post by NUCLR Golf. This impressive win is just the latest in a string of accomplishments for Dunlap, who has been making history all year and we’re going to break it down for you so shall we?

As a sophomore at the University of Alabama, Dunlap won The American Express in January to become the first amateur winner on tour since Phil Mickelson in 1991. This incredible achievement was followed just four days later by his decision to turn professional. Dunlap’s historic season continued with a victory at the Barracuda Championship in July. This young golfer’s impressive resume is rounded out by his amateur career, in which he ended as the No.1 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings. Dunlap’s amateur career was marked by numerous achievements, including wins at the 2021 US Junior Amateur and the 2023 US Amateur. This makes him one of only two players, alongside Tiger Woods, to have won each of these prestigious titles.
