2025 is already shaping up to be a wild ride for golf enthusiasts. In just the first month of the year, the golf world has been turned upside down. On one hand, Jay Monahan is still trying to find his footing, with his lost viewers and continuous WDs in events. On the other hand, LIV Golf is beaming with excitement after some massive changes. But before we dive into the massive changes happening in LIV, let’s catch up on some news about one of its captains. The Swedish Ryder Cup hero and captain of the Fireballs GC, Sergio Gracia.
Recently the Spanish sensation was spotted hitting balls on the golf course alongside one of his biggest fans and golf influencer, Drew Binsky. And, as it turns out, Garcia won Drew’s heart with his simple yet impressive gestures. This was revealed, as the golf enthusiast met the captain during a pro-am event and next took it to Instagram to share his experiences.
The clip showed Drew and Garcia playing together for their team ‘Garcia’, but things took an interesting turn when Garcia challenged Drew, saying, “$100 if you get in.” And was the influencer able to get in? Hell yeah! Drew shared in the video his total score of 75 instantly. But the best moment, according to Binsky was when the 10X Ryder Cup player praised him.

“The highlight of my day was draining a long eagle putt in front of Sergio himself,” Drew shared in his video through a voice-over audio. And if you are wondering what exactly did Sergio Garcia say? It was a 6-word comment that stole Drew’s heart: “What an eagle, what a putt!”

Drew’s excitement led him to exclaim, “Literally the nicest guy in the world!” He even used the same phrase as his Instagram caption. Shortly after, the GOM (Greatest of All Time) of Fireballs GC, Sergio Garcia, replied to the post. He typed, “Had a good time with amazing company! Looking forward to teeing it up again sometime!” Honestly, it would not be wrong to say that the captain got good publicity amid some massive changes!
Talking about massive changes, it looks like Scott O’Neil is making some big moves.

What’s brewing at LIV Golf as Sergio Garcia gains vast love?
The answer lies in their bold motto, “Golf but Louder.” On January 15th, Norman stepped down, passing the reins to Scott O’Neil, who swiftly sealed the deal with Fox Sports within no time. But that’s not all! LIV Golf is going global in a big way. The Saudi-backed club has lined up 14 events across nine countries for the 2025 season, up from eight countries last season. Mark your calendars, folks, as the new season tees off in February.
Apart from that, LIV is also opening its 2025 season ‘under the lights’ in Saudi Arabia. The Riyadh event will feature a unique format. All three rounds will be played under the lights, with a 6:15 PM local time shotgun start (10:15 AM ET for US fans). This clever scheduling also ensures a primetime broadcast on Fox, LIV Golf’s new broadcast partner during the prime time in the U.S.
