The LIV Golf Series has reached its finale this week at the Trump National Doral Golf Club in Miami. In the twilight of its inaugural season, the time is right for a retrospection at the newly founded league. While opinions might differ, the view of the people stands on top. If the reaction to the latest post from LIV Golf is to be believed, the fan hype is anything but.

LIV Golf hypes Miami event, fans question legality
The coming weekend will witness the controversial LIV Golf return to action. The series moves back to the United States after recent events in Bangkok and Jeddah. In the lead-up to the event, the league’s Twitter handle came up with an intriguing post, with a peculiar caption.

However, in spite of attaining publicity before the event, the post gave a negative response to what was intended.

Many claimed the photos were manipulated to show fans attending the event, while others argued the pictures were taken out of the PGA Tour’s gallery. Here’s a selection of those reactions.
I thought players wearing shorts was the big, new and exciting feature you brought to the game. So why are you featuring players in slacks? What gives? Are those stock photos you took from the PGA.

Thanks you pretty much ruined the great game and have nothing to show for it other than guys who were already overpaid, but now more overpaid and playing for shits and giggles. So sick. Get all the money. But leave sports out of this shit. It’s too pure of a thing in its origin

it must be hard to swing a golf club without a backbone.

On the other hand, the post proved to be a regular reminder to the LIV Golf Series of its perception outside of its inner circle. The rebel league has been at the receiving end of backlash ever since its inception.
The reason? It’s funding source. The LIV Golf Series is backed by the PIF (Public Investment Fund), the sovereign fund of Saudi Arabia. It is considered one of the most wealthy funds in the world, with assets totaling a portfolio worth an eye-watering $650 billion.
The series has also received criticism for poaching the most well-known players from the PGA Tour. Some pros were reportedly handed as much as an initial nine-figure contract to switch sides to LIV. The resentment has continued to grow ever since LIV conducted its first event in London back in June this year.
