Rory McIlroy is one of the co-founders with Tiger Woods for the new league, TGL. His club, the Boston Common Golf features current USA Ryder Cup captain, Keegan Bradley, making things all the more interesting. Initially, they completed the team with Tyrrell Hatton, but he was later on replaced by Hideki Matsuyama. Having taken a big name, it instantly became one of the most loved clubs in the golf community. But the question is, who are the real owners of the team?
Fenway Sports Group (FSG) is the primary owner and investor of Boston Common Golf. FSG is a global powerhouse in sports, marketing, media, entertainment, and real estate, with ownership stakes in several high-profile entities, including the Boston Red Sox, Liverpool Football Club, and the Pittsburgh Penguins. Their extensive portfolio also includes iconic venues like Fenway Park and Anfield Stadium, NASCAR’s RFK Racing, as well as ventures in media through NESN, sports management via Fenway Sports Management, and real estate through Fenway Sports Group Real Estate.
“We’re excited to embark on this amazing journey with Fenway Sports Group, joining forces to help build and create a successful future for Boston Common Golf,” said Symphony Ventures Partner Sean O’Flaherty. “Our partnership reflects our shared passion for this reimagined version of the sport. Together, we are committed to fostering a culture of excellence and bringing the joy of golf to fans in the heart of Boston and across New England.”

Apart from that, even John Henry, Tom Werner, and, Mike Gordon, are the owners of Rory McIlroy’s Boston Common Golf. That’s not all. In September 2024, Commercial property insurer FM announced itself as the principal partner of Boston Common Golf. Apart from having successful business ventures as their owners, the Boston Common Golf also has some exceptional celebrities on board.
Nial Horan and Noah Kahan join Boston Common Golf
As per the official site of TGL, solo artist and singer-songwriter Niall Horan, along with his investment group Greenbridge Ventures, acquired an ownership stake in Boston Common Golf back in June 2024. Many golf fans might not be aware that the former One Direction singer is also an avid golf fan, having played the sport in competitions as well. He joins Fenway Sports Group and Rory McIlroy’s Symphony Ventures as part of the ownership team. In addition to his financial involvement, Horan will also serve as an ambassador for Boston Common Golf, which is one of the six inaugural teams representing Boston and New England in the TGL. “Golf has been a lifelong passion of mine and I’m thrilled to be part of this exciting new venture alongside my investment group Greenbridge Ventures in partnership with Fenway Sports Group and Rory, who has been a longtime friend,” said Horan.
On January 23, the official page of Boston Common Golf even announced Noah Kahan as the limited partner and ambassador. He has joined as an investor with the others. “Joining Boston Common Golf is so surreal, just a dream come true to be a part of a team that represents New England, the only place in the world where anything makes sense to me,” says Kahan. With such big names on board, will Rory McIlroy’s golf team be able to live up to its hype? Stay tuned to find out!
