When different sports come together, it is almost usually a great thing. The PGA Tour golfers are known to be fans of other sports and are occasionally seen at premier events. Rory McIlroy and Billy Horschel support Manchester United and West Ham United, respectively. JJ Spaun is an avid baseball fan and supports the Los Angeles Dodgers. Guess what, the PGA Tour posted a new photo of Shane Lowry on their Instagram page with that in mind.
The NFL conference championships are taking place and the entire country is up on their feet to find out who gets to make Super Bowl LIX. As a celebratory and good luck gesture, the official Instagram page of the PGA Tour put up a post featuring Shane Lowry in a Travis Kelce jersey.
Lowry had worn the kit as a part of a combined costume with his family last Halloween. His wife had dressed as Taylor Swift. The Kansas City Chiefs, where Travis Kelce plays, had commented on the photo featuring Shane Lowry that the PGA Tour had posted last Halloween saying, “We always knew we liked Shane Lowry.”

And now as the Chiefs go all in on their bid for a third Super consecutive Super Bowl, PGA Tour put up the photo again. Shane Lowry’s support could provide the extra bit of luck and push the Chiefs need. They posted the photograph right before the AFC Championship game.
The much-anticipated tie between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills had the PGA Tour asking fans, “Who’s ready for the AFC Championship Game?”
However, a huge section of golfing fans didn’t welcome this.
Golfing fans didn’t like the Travis Kelce Collaboration
One fan was not amused by the post, saying he wished they gave the game a much-needed importance than these antics. According to the fans, there’s too much focus on what is happening behind the scenes. He also called out the glitz and glamor of the NFL. The showmanship displayed on the field was more comparable to a reality television series rather than a game. “Wish professional sports were actually abt the game and not the social media interactions. NFL is basically reality TV at this point,” the fan commented underneath the PGA Tour’s Instagram Post.

And it was not just the NFL. Even Travis Kelce managed to catch a few strays on no fault of his own. A fan saw it fit to comment, “Won Halloween? Looks like he lost a terrible bet,” referring to the costume and its lack of appeal, although it could very well be a knock against Shane Lowry for trying something divisive.
Another fan was more direct and concise with his thought process. Other than dating Taylor Swift, fans know Kelce to be a bit on the crazy side regarding his on-court antics. Most recently, he was yelling at Chiefs coach Andy Reid during Super Bowl LVIII and bumping off him. Travis clearly regrets the incident with his coach. He explained, “Sometimes those emotions get away from me, man, and that’s been the battle of my career.”
However, some fans remain unconvinced about how Travis Kelce’s temper was behind him. “I’d hate to have that jersey on my back. Kelsey is the biggest kook in the NFL.” The fan stated his thoughts on the matter.

Travis Kelce’s team, the Kansas City Chiefs were also in the crossfire. The NFL’s officiating has been deemed questionable with the Chiefs benefitting from several dubious decisions. A fan saw the lighter side of things and quipped that Lowry could benefit from the Chiefs’ support. He mentioned, “Shane should now be able to double-hit putts with no penalty and use a toe-wedge while officials turn a blind eye!”. Maybe a bit of luck will follow in reverse for the Irish golfer.
Either way, there is always a storyline capturing people’s attention when sports come together. Who do you have winning the Super Bowl LIX?
