28-year-old Jon Rahm won the much-coveted green jacket by four shots over LIV golfers Brooks Koepka and Phil Mickelson after kicking off his Masters journey with a four-putt a few days ago. Now, the 2-time major winner has hilariously blamed a particular NFL star for his less-than-ideal start on Thursday. After winning his first-ever Masters, Rahm looked back and laughed at the amusing exchange with the Super Bowl LII champion.

After Koepka failed to make good on his lead and collapsed on the final day of the event, Rahm powered forward to clinch the Masters trophy. Following his win, the Spain native revealed a hilarious conversation with his friend and Arizona Cardinals tight end, Zach Ertz.
I apologize for absolutely nothing!
You can expect these texts every major going forward my friend!
Congratulations! https://t.co/6yBfy5bFx7

“He sent me a text, and I’m gonna paraphrase, that said ‘That first green is looking like a walk in the park right now’ 10 minutes before I four-putted to start the tournament,” Rahm shared during his victory speech. He even called his friend out for the unintentional jinxing. “So thank you Zach. Don’t ever do that again, please.”
The NFL star took it all in stride. Happy with his friend’s latest achievement, the 2017 Super Bowl champion joked that he would do it all over again. “I apologize for absolutely nothing! You can expect these texts every major going forward my friend! Congratulations!” Ertz wrote on Twitter.

On Sunday, Jon Rahm became the fourth Spanish golfer to claim the Masters, joining the ranks of Seve Ballesteros, Jose Maria Olazabal, and Sergio Garcia. The golfer held off LIV stars Koepka and Mickelson on the marathon final day, as he won by four shots on 12-under par after a final round 69.
The 28-year-old had won his first-ever major at the 2021 US Open. On Sunday, his second major victory came on the 40th anniversary of the late Seve Ballesteros’ second win at the Augusta National. Rahm also dedicated his victory to the Spanish golfing legend.
