This year’s Ryder Cup has had the audiences both shocked and amazed all at once. The matches on the Roman greens concluded with Europe clinching a 16 1/2 – 11 1/2 victory against Team United States, continuing their legacy of winning on European soil. For many players, this year’s grounds proved to be grounds for redemption, but for some, the grounds were their firsts to secure a permanent place in the squad. 

Ludvig Aberg, the young Swede who made it to the team last minute, has since refused to settle for anything less than the best. Now that Aberg has kick-started a formalized professional journey with his Ryder Cup performance, he has the golf world singing his praises- “Great star in the game of golf.” And now a veteran golfer has chimed in.

In a recent post uploaded by PGA Tour Champions on Instagram, golf veteran Bernhard Langer is seen talking about the European pro, Ludvig Aberg. 

In the video, the German pro is heard praising Aberg to PGA TOUR Champions, for his extraordinary performance at the 2023 Ryder Cup. The golfer says, ”Well everybody I talk to says he could be the next great star in the game of golf.” He adds, “It was pretty amazing that he made [it to] the team.” 

Further adding on how Aberg’s young talent can be beneficial for the European side, the veteran player remarks, “…he will progress the way he wishes himself and continue to his winning ways” 

Talking about Aberg’s gameplay, the Masters Champion goes on- “He hits the ball long. He hits it straight. He has got a good shot game. Got a good head on his shoulder.” He concludes by adding, “He’s got all the aspects of a great player needs and hopefully develops to be the next superstar.”

Ludvig Aberg’s addition to the European team was a page that made it to the history books of golf. In just a 71-day journey as a professional golfer, Aberg achieved a series of remarkable milestones, making him the fastest-selected player in the Ryder Cup’s 110-year history.

Aberg was selected for the Ryder Cup squad by European Captain Luke Donald after Aberg’s wonderful professional event (9) performances prior to the Ryder Cup. Ludvig secured a historic repeat victory at the Big 12 Championship, followed by a second-consecutive Ben Hogan Award and a top spot in the PGA TOUR U Rankings, earning his full PGA TOUR Card for the 2023 and 2024 seasons. Aberg also became the seventh golfer ever to sweep the Hogan, Haskins, and Nicklaus awards. Recently, he clinched his first professional victory at the European Omega Masters.
