The one who introduced LIV Golf to his home country, Australia, is not part of the league as the CEO, but would be happy with the progress he imagined. The LIV Golf Adelaide is the most successful event of the schedule, having 100,000 fans in attendance, with an electrifying experience at the course. Well, the experience was planned way before by Norman, but it seemed like his plans were not valued.
Earlier, Greg Norman aimed for a deal with the North Adelaide course and the league to find a better and a tougher venue. However, his aim and plans were being criticised. In February 2025, Keiran Snape shared his thoughts during an interview with InDaily. He said, “Consultation process be undertaken with residents of North Adelaide and affected stakeholders, including the North Adelaide Golf Club members, the Adelaide Park Lands Association and the Adelaide Park Lands Authority.”
With the rising concern and leaving the position, it felt like Norman’s effort would go in vain. But the reality was something else. The new CEO, Scott O’Neil, has been active with the initiatives and partnership. He has shared a recent update about the progress during the Girl Dad podcast. The CEO was asked, “What are your biggest takeaways from your first LIV experiences? What would you say it is, and is there anything that you’re like, okay I want to change this going forward?”

Starting off to answer, he jokingly shared that he would emphasize more on playing golf and getting better at it. Later, continuing what went well for the league, he pointed out, “We just extended there to 2031.” Even apart from the deal, what struck the CEO was, “The 100,000 35,000 people streaming through the gates that’s got to move from the ceiling to the floor and, and that has to be our baseline of what our expectations are.” Well, not just the 102,483 people who attended the event live, but the 400,000 plus viewers also add up to the great success of the event. Indeed, it sets up huge expectations for the league.

For which, even the CEO is also concerned. He shared further, saying, “What I’m racking my brain about with the team is, what do we have to do? What are we willing to do? What do we have to do and what can we do, and how quickly can we do it?” To back his questions, he even got the stats that amazed him, which were “30% of the attendees have never been to a golf event before.” The growth of the sport, that too with 30,000 people approximately in Adelaide, is just exceptional for the league and even for golf.
Well, the statement was pointed towards the direction Norman first directed. But his presence as the CEO might be missed. However, his role in the deal extension is much bigger.

Greg Norman transforming the new deal
The Australian former golfer might have left the hot seat, but his vision for the sport and country is still being pursued. With more than 3 years of planning, the deal has now been confirmed during the last day of the LIV Golf Adelaide event. Before the start, Peter Malinauskas, South Australia Premier, LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil, and LIV Golf Board Member Greg Norman shared the news that Adelaide will be the exclusive home of LIV Golf Australia.
Not just this, but Norman has been assigned to take charge of the redevelopment of the North Adelaide Golf Course. The decision was shared in collaboration with the Malinauskas Labor Government and Adelaide City Council. The unique course at the prime location would be under the great golfer and experienced architect.

Until now, the Greg Norman Golf Course Design organization has delivered 100+ course designs in 34 countries. Even though it is recognized as a premier signature golf course design firm in the world. Well, Norman, who initiated the process, is still in charge despite leaving his position as CEO. He even shared his feeling, “I’m honoured to design a world-class course that will benefit current and future generations here in Australia. Long LIV Golf!”
The ex-golfer CEO is still continuing on his mission. But will the league achieve the same feat as Adelaide in other countries? Share your thoughts on this.
