Phil Mickelson is one of the most eminent players in golf. His three-decade-long career testifies to his exceptional skills and resilience in the game’s ups and downs. The golfer had been compared to the likes of Tiger Woods and for all the right reasons.

Recently, Mickelson appeared on LIV Golf’s show, the Heng Times. Lefty spoke about various areas of his life and also shared what he thinks about building a legacy and why it could not be made on the PGA Tour.

Phil Mickelson has 45 PGA Tour victories and six major championship trophies in his bag. After debuting in 1992, his first major win came after 12 years. He was one of the players who was awarded the Hall of Fame. In 2021, Mickelson became the oldest golfer to win a major at the age of 50.

However, his legacy was tarnished by his dark past, the gambling and betting addictions revelation soiling it. Additionally, he was intensely criticized as he shifted to LIV golf. Nonetheless, he now appears to have surmounted everything. And it seems, he is continuing to build and grow his legacy every day.

In LIV Golf’s recent video, Lefty was asked about how he would like to be remembered with his legacy. Phil said, “I think the biggest thing is building a legacy that brings golf globally. That to me is a big thing and changing the kind of the golf experience for the professional players so that they’re valued and appreciated in a different way than I have experienced throughout my career.”

Furthermore, Lefty commented on what the PGA Tour lacked and kind of backed his decision to leave. Mickelson said, “I feel like right now we are building kind of our legacy, all the players out here. Because we are bringing golf throughout the world now with LIV, that’s never been done and it never would be done on the PGA Tour.” Although his betrayal of the PGA Tour left him in hot water for quite some time, he now seems to be better off, creating something that resonates with him truly.
