Lexi Thompson is one of the most celebrated golfers, and rightfully so! At just 12 years old, she became the youngest player ever to qualify for the U.S. Women’s Open in 2007, showcasing her talent on the greens. After making history at the coveted U.S. Women’s Open, she later secured a win at the 2014 Chevron Championship, making her the second-youngest women’s major champion. This year at Lancaster CC, she will mark her 18th consecutive start in the US Women’s Open under 30 years of age.

However, lately, things have been slow for her. Last year, she played in four majors, missing the Amundi Evian Championship for the third consecutive year. Sadly, in her four appearances, she could only make the cut in one at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. She finished at T47 in the event. 2023 was not a very good year for her overall! She missed a cut at several events and was facing some issues with her wrist too. But this year, she came back with zeal but has been unable to perform.

In the first major of the season, the Chevron Championship, she poorly missed the cut, having shot 78 and 74 both Thursday and Friday. After missing the cut, she posted about how she has been overdoing things: “Not being 100% healthy is never fun to deal with physically or mentally. Even though I pushed through it this week, I’ve decided I need to figure out how to get back to my best self. To get my hand healthy and in a better state of mind. Time to do the work on myself.” In regular Tour events too, she has missed cuts, and her great finish has been T3 at the Ford Championship.

Some fans also praised her phenomenal US Women’s streak. One fan called it “Crazy” while the other one said “Unreal that she is still in her 20s. It seems like she has been around forever.” In rear view, the golfer has been on the greens for almost 17-18 years, and her run has been pretty good. She has played in seven Solheim Cups, and her Tour wins are also a testament to her resilience.
