The first day of LIV Adelaide was a staggering success. Per reports, a sell-out crowd of 35,000 fans showed up in Adelaide to catch their favorite golfers in action. Spectators formed long queues outside the venue, with some even missing first plays due to the prolonged wait.

One golfer stunned by the sheer number of people is 2-time major winner and LIV player Bubba Watson. The 44-year-old took to Twitter to share a photo of the crowd, captioning it, “How awesome is this.”

Watson, who reportedly joined LIV for a $50 million deal, was equally nervous and elated to hit the greens. Following the first day’s play, Watson stood at T24 on the leaderboard. He is also the captain of RangeGoats GC, one of the twelve teams in the league.
Talor Gooch is currently in the lead after 1st round of LIV Adelaide ended. Meanwhile. English golfer Richard Bland sits at T2 along with South Africa’s Dean Burmester. Gooch shot a 10-under 62 on Friday to take a 4-stroke lead at the top of the leaderboard.
What is the winner’s payout at LIV Adelaide?
The likes of Cameron Smith, Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, Bryson DeChambeau, and more, are competing at Adelaide for a share of the lucrative $25 million prize purse. The victorious player will take home $4,000,000, which is the standard 20 percent payout. No cuts are made in the event after 36 holes, and all players who finish three rounds will walk away with a part of the $20 million individual portion of the prize pool.

Also, the top three out of the 12 LIV teams will split $5 million, with $3 million going to the winning team. The team coming second will take home $1.5 million, and $500,000 will go to the third team. 31-year-old Talor Gooch is currently at the top after 1st round in individual rankings. Meanwhile, the likes of Sergio Garcia, Koepka, Watson, and more were further behind. Dustin Johnson’s Aces GC leads the team leaderboard, entering the fourth event of the year.
