Nelly Korda prefers to remain mellow on course
A reporter asked her whether she plays better when she is riled up. The 7-time winner on the PGA Tour replied in the affirmative. She said that when she used to play against her dad as a child, he would always try to irritate her. He did this because he thought she ‘stepped it up a notch when pi*sed’.
Talking of her walk after the 17th hole where she triple-bogeyed, she said, “I was fuming though, on that walk from the tee to the fairway.” The interviewer then asked her what her father did in order to pi*s her off.

Korda said, “He would just be a smart a*s. Because he was good and it was always so close, and I would always pay. Like, we would play for money and he would always try to tick me off, and it worked a lot.”
Recalling a story from a couple of days before, she said, “He was playing really good. He was starting to smack talk, and I was just like, ‘Okay, get out of here. I don’t want to play with you anymore. You get me so fired up!’ So, I mean, I don’t really like to be fired up. I like to keep it pretty mellow out there. But, I don’t know.”
