A name every golf enthusiast would have heard of in recent years is that of Nelly Korda. Ever since turning pro in 2016, the LPGA star has garnered a lot of attention. With her stunning golf swing and humble attitude, it is not hard to see why she is now a fan favorite in women’s golf, despite her career only just starting. Fans are keen to know everything about World No. 2. And with her most recent admission on social media, they now know one of her food preferences. And boy, is it controversial!
Nelly Korda sparks a huge food war
The 24-year-old has taken a break from golf this week, and while many LPGA stars head to Hawaii for the 2023 Lotte Championship, Korda is sitting home and relaxing. It’s not often the golf pro finds time off like this; hence, fans have seen a lot of her through her social media posts.

Besides her workout and training, Korda also recently gave fans an insight into her food choices. Posting a photo of a cashew spread bottle on her Instagram story, the one-time major winner controversially revealed her favorite spread. “Cashew butter is better than almond and peanut butter,” she wrote.
Of course, this may have upset many who preferred the original spreads, considering peanut butter is a Americans fan favorite spread, and almond butter is its ideal replacement for those allergic to peanuts! And the young golfer knew that. “Don’t come [at] me,” she pleased, knowing very well that she had sparked a food war. Despite it being controversial, Korda was determined to stand by her butter choice. She even tried to recruit fans to her side and added to her story, “Also don’t knock it till you try it.”
Why is Korda not competing on the LPGA Tour this week?

Amid debating her food preferences, fans have also been wondering why the LPGA star is currently on break. They’ll be pleased to know that it’s by choice and not injury-related! The golf pro is in fact getting in some rest and training to be in the best possible shape for the year’s first women’s major championship, the Chevron Championship.
She’s not the only one catching up on her rest before the big event, either. The likes of world No. 1 Lydia Ko and Lexi Thompson have also chosen not to play this week so as to better prepare for the major. Only time will tell if this rest will be fruitful for these pros.
